CHAPTER SIXTEEN
The Fallout
March 11, 2012. Carlos and Margarita attended the morning wedding of Kenji and Hazel as best man and maid of honor as well. Jimmu and Barbara also attended the wedding.
The reception followed at Hotel Fernanda. Margarita’s due date was in a few more days so she and Carlos had made it to a point that they always carried the hospital bags just in case she had her delivery before her due date.
The reception ended. Aboard Carlos’ private jet Kenji and Hazel left for their honeymoon in Hawaii courtesy of Carlos and Margarita.
They were already leaving the grand ballroom when Ericka dragged Margarita back to the ballroom and put a small revolver gun on Margarita’s head and another one on her tummy.
Everyone had been so alarmed most especially Carlos. Margarita was just beside him and in just a few seconds, he just saw her in front of Ericka with a small gun on her head and another one on her tummy. All other members of HARMONY except Hazel were there as well as their husbands. Jimmu and Barbara were there as well as Don Alvaro and Doña Eleanor.
“Nobody moves,” Ericka threatened everyone. “I’ll pull the trigger if you make any unnecessary move.”
Margarita was calm, “Ericka, please. Let’s talk about this peacefully. Tell us what you want.”
“You shut up Margarita or I blew up your belly.”
Margarita kept silent.
Carlos then spoke up. “What do you want, Ericka?”
Ericka said, “You perfectly knew what I want, Carlos. I want you. But you’re just so in love with this woman your entire life that you never even allowed any other woman a chance. I devoted almost three years with you.”
Carlos replied, “I’ve always been honest with you, Ericka. You perfectly knew my heart belonged to someone else even before we had an affair. I also never promised you anything.”
Ericka was crying. “Yeah, you made it perfectly clear, Carlos. But I wanted more. I even thought for a while that this excuse of ‘my heart already belonged to someone else’ was just a lie. But when I see you with this woman as soon as you came back here for good, I knew she’s the one who owns your heart.”
Jimmu asked his daughter, “Ericka please stop this and release, Maggie.”
Ericka shouted, “I won’t Daddy! This woman robbed me the life I wanted with Carlos.”
Barbara begged her daughter, “Ericka, please do not harm, Maggie and the babies. Let them go, sweetie. You can still find someone else better than Carlos.”
Ericka blurted out, “I only want Carlos, Mommy!”
Carlos spoke out again, “Ericka, please let my wife go.”
Ericka told him, “If I let her go, you will still be with her. Do you have any idea what I have been through for loving you, Carlos?”
Carlos begged her, “Ericka, I wronged you then punish me. Please release my wife.”
Ericka started blabbering, “No! What does she have that I don’t have, Carlos? I’m also rich. I’m also pretty and sexy. I can also give you as many kids as you want. You know what? I even tried getting pregnant when we were still together. I stopped taking my contraceptive pills. I even pricked your condoms. Oh, I did get pregnant and had it removed as well! Surprised? Yes, I was pregnant with your baby when I ended our relationship. You were so busy with your career…busy making yourself worthy of this woman. I never cared if you were an illegitimate son. I never cared if you were not a billionaire. But you never allowed me to enter your heart. I was just your work colleague, your boss’ daughter, your bed mate. You never even allowed me to be your proper girlfriend.”
