I shuffled down the footpath, dragging my feet and occasionally kicking up a few leaves that were in my way. The cool autumn breeze blowing my hair back off my face. I kept my hands shoved in my trench coat making my way home.

I loved this kind of weather; it was sweet, brisk, crisp and awakening, reminding you that you were still alive by making your face so cold it stings.

My converse scuffing off the footpath making a wierd squeaky sound. I had my ipod in my ears blasting the latest Hunter Hayes song. I am seriously in love with this American country boy!

I turned into my house, it was unfortunately like those in the fairytales, you know what I am talking about. The one with the white picket fence and the little dog, fortunately Ravi wasn’t one of those cute little harmless dogs, he chews at your pants until he rips a hole in them, buries everything in the backyard no matter whose or what it is. Once he got out, he came back of course but unfortunately he didn’t come alone, he brought in his mouth a dead chewed snake. It was gross and I hate to relive the story.

I walked up the porch steps, glancing at the plaque on the wall by the door that read ‘Devine’ in neat cursive writing with little flowers drawn around it make it look pretty. Josh and I always hated it but Mum loves it, she says it gives the place character, I agree with the statement but I don’t believe it is the right character.

I remember once when Josh and I were eight and Ben our little brother was five we dared him to hide it in the blackberry bush in the back yard. He did it but ended up with blackberry stains all over his clothes. Mum saw him before Josh and I could get his clothes in the wash and found out what he did. Ben said it was Josh and I but Mum told him not to lie so we got away with that one. It was pretty funny.

I push open the front door which is never locked and walk in. I jog up the stairs and instinctively walk straight into my room. The walls plastered with posters of musicians, The Fray, The Script, ACDC, KISS, I have always had a range in music taste. My brother always said it was because I was indecisive I disagreed with him, as usual and said it was because I was open to different genres and ideas. He said I was crazy, I couldn’t deny that.

Believe it or not my bed room used to be bright pink and have 'my little ponies' everywhere. I used to give the ponies haircuts thinking that the hair would grow back but much to my dismay it never did. I was curious as to why but later found that their hair was plastic and so were they.

I fall back onto my double bed situated up against the window. I loved to just watch the street at night when I couldn’t sleep, which was often. I pull out my phone to see I have a message from Josh.

From- Da Brotherrrr!

-          ‘Hey Rosie, We are in London tonight until next week. You should come up and see us. I miss you’

To- Da  Brotherrrr!

-          ‘Don’t lie to me. You have never missed me a day in my life. You just want some home-cooked food. I might come up, we will see. Say hi to everyone for me’

I had never really met any of the people he was with. I had definitely heard of them though, I’m sure half the population of the world had though. They were One Direction the world’s most famous boy band of today. Josh is their drummer for tours and stuff he has been doing it for a while now and he really likes it. I would like it too, I mean seriously travelling around the world with five good looking boys whilst playing an instrument that I love. I hate to say it but sometimes I get a little jealous that that’s Josh’s life and not mine.

I throw my phone on the floor knowing Josh won’t answer for a while. He has always been bad at replying to messages within the hour so I left it and would come back to it later.

I strip off my work clothes and change into a more comfortable jumper and pair of leggings. I tie my hair back into a bun so that it isn’t out anymore.

The door opens up and I hear footsteps walk in. I look over at the clock above my desk and it read 2:00pm. It’s too early for Mum to be home and Dad is away, which leaves two options. A burglar or Ben. I doubted it was Ben though, he was probably still at work. I grabbed the nearest thing to a weapon and carefully edged downstairs.  I had my stiletto in one hand and the other was clutching onto the railing. I reached the bottom of the stairs and peered around the corner. I saw the figure standing in the kitchen looking out the backdoor.

I creeped a little further, it was a safe distance, far enough that they couldn’t get to me if I ran and close enough that I could run up and hit them with the shoe if I needed.

“Who are you and what do you want?” I yelled.

They turned around and I immediately recognised the face.

“What am I not welcome in my house anymore?” They grinned.

I just smiled and ran to them throwing my arms around their neck and wrapping my legs around their torso.

“Nice to see you too Rosie.” They laughed.

“Nice to see you Joshie” I said kissing his cheek, “Wait! What are you doing here?! You’re supposed to be in London, with the boys!”

He just laughed at my crazy fast questioning, “I have today off, we start concerts there tomorrow so I thought I would come and surprise my baby sister.”

“It’s two minutes Josh can’t you just let it go?”

“Nope never, for those two minutes I was an only child.” He said before putting my feet back on the ground and waltzing over to the fridge, “Got any grapes? Been craving them since I started driving down here but I didn’t have any money to buy some”

“Bottom left draw” I said.

“Yummers” He yelled pulling out a huge bag of grapes. He took a handful and shoved them into his mouth.

I jumped up sitting myself on the kitchen bench facing my brother as he stuffed his face.

“Joshie?”

“Yep” He mumbled with the grapes in his mouth.

“I missed you” I said.

“I missed you too Rosie” He said before coming over to me and engulfing me in a hug.
