She walks away sorrow in her features, why is she so distant? No, she couldn't have. No..
I watch helplessly as my best friend brushes past me, acting as if I were simply a ghost.
"Grey. Grey wait, please." I beg after her constantly shaking off my arm from trying to hold her as she once loved. She turns to face me, her crystal eyes seem shattered with misery, in a low voice she whispers "Did you think I wouldn't find out?" I stutter about to speak up before she cuts me off with more edge this time "Did you really think I was okay? Didn't you see the pain. The days I'd fake smile it off?" She screams. In a low broken whisper she says " Next time you do something think about who else will get hurt." then she turns walking away, grasping her backpack as she'd always do when she was nervous. Shaking as she tried to choke down her tears, maneuvering through the crowd. The feeling slowly dawned on me, she knew."Leave me alone"Grey screams as I knock on her front door, "Grey, please just let me explain." I try and rationalise the situation. Swiftly the front door swings open to reveal the only person that can make me smile, a set frown chiseled into her face. "Haze please just go. You don't know me, you don't know my pain I went through. You think at my lowest point this would be okay? This was so selfish, I can't believe you'd do this. Good bye, Haze." She sneers at each word before forcefully slamming the door. It feels like a dagger was plunged into my stomach as she spoke her venomous words.
The girl who was once my best friend now acts like I'm just another person in the building, only a shout into the void. I sit in the front scribbling out numerous lyrics trying to relay my feelings simply into mid air, she sits reading or spilling her notebook with detailed sketchings of saturn and the stars. Somedays she'd look as though death had merely kissed her cheek the previous night. I should be next to her, I should be helping her right now.
You could see it in her, her slowly slipping. Her once lively eyes now dull, her smile has disappeared, when you look to her soul, all you see is broken. Not just seeing her pain but feeling it within you, feeling a lurking sadness.
She's gone now.
