It's not a goodbye

I woke up to the sound of nature outside my window, the smooth waves, the blue jays having a nice conversation, until my dog shawty came into my room and barked to the heavens. Shawty has been by my side since I was born, we actually have the same birthday. Her mother died giving birth and her father had to get put down for murdering another dog.

I can relate to how she would feel for not having her parents in her life, my mother passed away due to chemo and my dad is always on business trips. He always says he can't make it to any family events because of work but I think whenever he comes back home he feels the need to take blame for her death. though I constantly tell him he couldn't possibly have anything to do with moms chemo he just says "I don't know.." And ignores anything else I have to say.

My aunt Rannesa (aka Rain) was the one who signed to be my legal Guardian. I'm lucky to have her, she's like the sister I've always wanted, seeing as how I'm the only child.

"Shawty chill girl." I say while scratching under her chin. Though most dogs favorite spot is behind the ear, shes a sucker when I scratch under her chin.
I got up and put on my panda slippers Rain gave me on my 16 birthday. After grabbing my clothes I hopped in the warm shower.
"I know you want this for life, taking pictures with all my Ice.." I begun to sing my favorite song.

Long after I was all ready and dressed, I went downstairs and my heart jumped to the smell of chocolate covered strawberry pancakes and a vanilla mocha coffee.

"shut up! You made my favorite breakfast? But I thought you only make this on special occasions." I said while taking a seat in front of the delicious looking meal.

"This is a special occasion, your going to UMC!" She squeals a bit to happy.

"Yes Rain, I'm going to UMC today, that means I'm moving away no telling when we will see each other, how is this a calibration?"

"Well, Cia'Lavi" she calls me by my whole first name, not normal of her, she usually calls me Cia or baby.
"I'm sorry for trying go lighten the mood here, you think this is easy for me to see you lea-" before she can finish her sentence she bust into tears.

Why the hell did you
have to say something ya ediot.

"Rain I'm really sorry, its just..I'm happy to go to college but over everything I don't want to leave you, ever.

I stand up and walk to the other side of the counter where she was sitting and hug her.

"It's fine, I feel the same way and I'm just so sad to see that my baby has all grown up."
She says in between sniffs.
"Rain, do you mind taking me to Ivy's house? Her mom just bought her a car so she's driving Alice and I to the University."

"Sure thing, but finish up your breakfast first before we go ok." She says, much happier now.She walks upstairs slowly, and I begin to feel pitaful for making her cry.

"Cia how about we get some ice cream on the way?" She says pointing at Dairy Queen a few stores ahead.

"Sure thing but I'm paying" I start to pull out my wallet but was soon stopped by a cold hand.

"No I got this" Rain says as we pull up to the drive thru.

"Welcome to Dairy queen may I take your order"

A lady says through the speaker box.

"May we have one carmell Sunday and a strawberry with nuts please and make them small"

"Will that be all ma'am!"

"Yes that will be all"

"That will be $2.31 at the first window please"

"Ok thank you"
Rain says as she pulls out her bands.

Damn she got hella money in that wallet.

As we give the money and take our ice cream we make our way to Ivy's house.
