"What are we going to do about my parents?" I ask.
"I don’t know yet, but we’ll figure it all out."
Leaning over, he paces his soft lips against mine.
"Matt" we hear Oli say from the doorway. Pulling away from each other, Matt looks up at him.
"What?"
"I think I may have an idea or two to help you both stay together."
Shocked that Oli had just even said that, I look up with my mouth open.
"Y/N), how are your parents towards you?" Oli asks, completely focused on me.
"My parents are divorced. My dad disconnected himself from us. Haven’t heard from or seen him in five years. My mom doesn’t really take notice to me much either. She always reads and knits. Dad leaving left her in a realm of depression. The only time she talks to me is when I ask to come over here with Matt. My other siblings are much more important to her than I am."
"Good." Oli says, causing me to look up at him quickly. “Oh no, I didn’t mean it like that. That works perfectly for either of my ideas. So here are our options, one of us either adopts you, or you just come move in with Matt."
"HAHAHA. Yeah right. None of you would be given the right to adopt me. Let’s just go with the second option because it makes more sense."
"Matt?" Oli looking towards Matt now for his opinion.
"Honestly mate? I don’t even care as long as she’s with me someway or somehow."
"Alright then, it’s settled. Do you want me to come with you to talk to her mom?"
Before Matt could answer him, I cut in. “Yes. Come with us. I think she might like you."
"When do you want to do this?" Matt asks as he looks over at me.
"When I go home. We still have two hours so let’s just relax and plan everything out more." Looking up, I thank Oli for the idea. He nods and walks back out with the guys.
"Matt. We don’t have to do this. You don’t have to be stuck with me all the time. I know you’re going to need your space and I can assure you I’ll need mine. Needless to say, I don’t think the guys are going to want me here every single time they are."
"(Y/N). Stop. It’s okay. Alright? We’ll make this work."
Laying down beside one another, he lays his hand out in between us for me to grab.
"You know mate, that would actually be a brilliant picture." Oli says, startling us both as he brings in drinks for us.
After thanking Oli for bringing us our drinks, he turns to walk out of the room.
"Oli, wait." I begin, as he turns back to face me. “As soon as we finish these, let’s go back to talk to my mom. If I’m home ‘early’ it might make it easier."
"Alright. I’ll inform the guys about our plan."
-
Sitting in the back of the car, I can’t help but laugh to myself as I watch Matt & Oli singing and dance around to the loud music they were playing.
-
"Okay, do you want us to wait here at first? Go in pack some things, then talk to her about it?"
"Yeah. I’ll call your phone when you guys can come in."
-
Walking up to the door, my knees begin to get shaky. As I walk in, I see my mom is nowhere to be found. Looking around for my younger brothers I see that they’re gone too.
Going back out towards the kitchen, I see a small note and an envelope.
‘(Y/N) took your brothers. We won’t be back. Here’s some money if you and Matt want to work things out together. It’ll be easier this way. Pack everything you need because you won’t be able to get back in here after tomorrow. I’m sorry.‘
Sinking to the floor, I start to cry. Loudly and practically hyperventilating, I can’t move. I’ve gone numb from the sadness. Trying to fumble with my pocket, I manage to pull out my phone and call Matt, hanging up once I heard the car doors shut.
As I wait for them to walk in the house, I try to stop myself from crying in front of them but I can’t. Matt was the first one through the door. Looking around, he sees me. “Oh fuck! (Y/N)!" Matt cries as he runs over to me, Oli following close behind.
"She’s gone, they’re all gone." I say, handing Matt and Oli the note. “She didn’t even say ‘I love you’ or ‘goodbye’." Reaching up onto the counter, I grab the envelope of money. "$500" I say, throwing their attention off of the note and back onto me.
"It’s for us Matt." I say as I wipe another tear off of my face.
"Let’s go pack your stuff" Oli says as he puts his hand out to help me up. “Matt, you search through the cabinets, see if there’s anything we can take. It’s all going to be thrown out for trash anyway when this place gets locked up."
-
"Look (Y/N)" Oli began as I empty out all of my drawers. “I don’t like the idea of you and Matt together since you’re so young. But you have made him smile more than I’ve seen him smile before. You’re a cool girl, I think we’ll enjoy having you there with us when we’re all together."
Smiling, I look down at my suitcase. “Thanks, Oli. It means alot to me. Especially coming from you."
Nodding, he starts to pack another suitcase full of all my odds and ends.
"Need help?" Matt asks as he walks into my room too.
"Can you pack all of my stuff from the drawers in the bathroom?" I ask as I hand him a smaller bag.
"Of course baby." he says with a smile.
"He really does love you, you know." Oli says causing me to look up.
"I could only hope."
-
"Everything is packed" Oli and I say together as we walk into the bathroom with Matt. Looking at each other, we smile.
"Alright. Ready to go home?" Matt asks as he stands up.
Nodding my head yes, I grab the bag out of his hand and do one final sweep through the house.
"Let’s go home." I say to the both of them as I open the front door and walk out towards the car.
