CHAPTER FOUR:
DAMION INVASION AND A NIGHTMARE
PEYTON'S POV
When I returned home, Damion wasn't there. Hallelujah! I don't need him following me around. Grams and gramps were home. I saw gramps on the chair in our living room watching the History channel, and grams was in the kitchen cooking something that smelled heavenly. I walked in, put my keys on the table inside the door, hanging my jacket up on the coat rack.
"Hey, gramps." I greeted gramps, he nodded towards me. I walked into the kitchen to see grams cutting up some carrots and cucumbers. "Hey grams, what you cooking?" I asked.
"Oh, hello Peyton." she sent me a warm smile, my grandparents never touched me, mainly because I told them I didn't like having skin contact, they didn't press the subject, knowing that as a teenager they needed to give me some leverage. So they would just smile, sometimes just pat my shoulder if it was covered. "I'm cooking spagetti and salad. Nothing special, since it's out first official day in this house I thought we'd start simple." she explained. I smiled.
"That's fine. I love spagetti." I replied nicely.
"Could you set the table?" she asked.
"Sure." I gathered the plates, cups, and forks all together and took them to the table. Once dinner was finally ready we all sat down and began eating. It was quiet for a while, until gramps decided to break the silence.
"So how was your first day of school, Peyton?" Gramps asked. I shrugged.
"Not any different than my other school, still had to take notes, I have homework, the usual." I answered.
"Did you make any friends?" grams asked.
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I don't want to focus on friends right now, I would much rather focus on school work, I do have to go to college next year, and if I'm gonna go to the University of Florida, I'm going to have to keep my grades up." I explained.
"You must want friends though? They could be of much use, like help you create a study group, they're also good to help with social skills. You can't go to college without knowing how to meet people." grams argued.
"I'll focus on that later." I muttered. We went back to eating when I felt a ghost presence enter the room. Oh no!
"How was the library?" he asked. Damn it! I cleared my throat.
"I'm finished. I think I'll go do my homework." I excused myself, grabbing my dishes to carry them to the sink.
"Alright. I love you sweetheart." grams said.
"Love you too!" I replied back nicely. I quickly threw my dishes in the sink and ran up the stairs. Knowing Damion was in my room waiting for me. I closed the door before turning to see him sitting at my desk instead of on my bed.
"Couldn't you leave me alone for one minute?!" I snapped. He chuckled.
"I left you alone when you went to the library, doesn't that count?" he smirked at me. I rolled my eyes. "I noticed you're nice to your grandparents." he stated.
"Yeah, so?" I asked.
"Well, you're so mean to everybody else, why not them?" he asked.
"Because they keep their distance." I answered.
