-Chapter one-

"Aria Dritten."

I looked up at the "judge" in his high chair. He didn't have a degree in law so I don't think he should even be allowed to be called as such. He was a plumb man and I actually think if he looked too far over the edge of the desk he would fall over and bounce.

It's mean to say, but a girl can't live in this country and be nice anymore. I remember when I was a little girl, women were just as free as men. But that had changed. I'm not quiet sure what actually happened though. All the men kind of went crazy I guess and started to make women the low ones. They made an evil man president and he took it too far and turned our country into an empire making a group of high society men the rulers of ArizonaBeanie. Of course they changed the name to the Empire of Men and called themselves the Faces of Men. They took all of women's rights away and we were no longer free. The men of our country now decided our fate.

Our "rulers" are actually unknown to most of us and is said that it was a rigged election so a group of sexist men could go into power. The guy that was said to be our new president is not a real person. We don't have a face to put with any of the horror and I think that's what really scares my people.

Anyway the judges in these courts were set by the Faces of Men and they take on the cases of women and girls to decide their fate. Whether it be child barer, maid/servant, nanny, sex slave, or basically anything else degrading to women or even exile. Your fine as a child, but once a girl turns sixteen she loses all rights and has to go through questioning and a trail with a jury of high class men figuring out what to do with her.

"Aria Dritten, you are hear by sentenced by our jury to become a servant. We are ever thankful for your work and you will be taken to the purchasing center tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. from your home on Elie Street. Do you understand your sentencing?" He said this in such a way that made you think you were actually worth something, but when he said 'thankful' you could tell he didn't care just like the rest of them.

"Y-Yes."

"Very well pickup your servant manual that will define your work on your way out. You may leave. Fifteen minute break before the next case."

I was rushed out of the courtroom by a guard so eager to get to the restroom. I grabbed my manual from a giant stand and ran out if the building. I had to get home. I needed to be with my family for the last time for as long as I could. So I ran and ran until I ran into something.
