Hi everyone! This is my third ongoing story (yikes!) I know what you're all thinking, "writexmusic, how could choose such a cliched storyline" Well guess what. I'm going to take this cliche plot, and spin and turn it around. The characters are going to have mental struggles, drama and other elements that you wouldn't find in other stories like this. So please bear with me and trust that I will do a good job with this. I hope you all enjoy!
(THIS IS ALSO A WORKING TITLE, I MAY OR MAY NOT CHANGE IT. IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE LET ME KNOW)

I was loitering around the school's main lobby, minding my own business, dreading this "meet-and-greet" when a familiar girl brushed past me in a moment of hysteria, eager to get into the guidance counselor's office. Her sobs echoed throughout the lobby, and were followed by the sound of a slamming door.
Where had I seen her before? I asked myself as I briefly skimmed through my memory. When the faces had matched in my mind, I rolled my eyes and sighed. Typical Derek.
Derek Waters was my best friend in the entire world. Our friendship began in Kindergarten. That was when I had forcefully shoved his face into a mud pie that had his name on it. My "gift" had earned me a one-way ticket to the principal's office, but it caused the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Derek was loyal, entertaining, and the greatest friend a girl could ask for. He was always there for me; when I lost my glasses in the second grade, when my biggest secret was revealed to the entire sixth grade class, when I failed my calculus test. As we grew up together, we got to know each other in a way that no one else had. I watched as Derek evolved from the wimpy boy I had once known into the brawny man I knew now.
When the new transfer student, whom I was supposed to show around, finally came I noticed that the weeping girl was still sitting in the guidance office. Derek must have done some serious damage this time around. Not like he cared or anything . . . I'm sure he was already off searching for his next victim.
I could spot the new girl from a mile away. While I'm not one to judge appearances, I could immediately tell that she did not fit in. She was dressed conservatively in a white button down blouse, khaki pants, and boat shoes. Her sandy hair was limp and flat, her makeup minimal. Most of the girls here at Parkview High (myself excluded) dressed like they were headed for a club in New York City, not school in the suburbs of Delaware. Common day attire consisted of short black skirts and tight revealing tops. Personally, I preferred jeans and vintage t-shirts. I didn't care enough about my looks to try and put myself together in the morning. After all, it was just school, right? I had been in school with these kids for the last twelve years, so who was I trying to impress?
Slugging my backpack over my shoulder, I approached the new girl. "Hey, my name is Emma Parker, and I'm a member of the Welcoming Committee. I'm going to be showing you around today."
She smiled brightly, revealing bright pink braces. "Thanks! My name is Lily Embers. I'm so excited to be here. And kind of nervous . . ." she trailed off, narrowing her pale eyes at me.
"It's normal to be, I guess," I shrugged as I gestured her to follow me down the marble-floored hallway. "But hopefully, after I show you around, you won't be anymore. What grade are you in?"
"I'll be a sophomore," she answered, as she struggled to keep pace with me.
I've been told I move like the wind, always in a hurry and never stopping to worry. Swamped with extracurriculars and school work, I always had places to go, things to do. I didn't have time to slow down. People never really understood that.
