Crashing Down

Chapter Four: Excuse Me?

Punch, Punch, Kick

Dodge, Swipe Left, Kick

"Come on Jess! Stronger and more power!" shouted Seth.

Beads of sweat rolled down my face as I continuously hit the red punching bag. We've been training for 5 hours now, and I could barely move. My muscles are so sore I wanted to collapse on the matt right now. I couldn't though. It would just result to a "Penalty Lap" around the large gym.

"Why are you being so harsh?" I said in between breaths.

Seth only smiled and said, "It's part of the job. I can't go easy on you if you want to do well in this Mission."

I playfully glared at Seth, but a twinge of jealousy sparked in me. Why does he have to be so good at everything? I mean he's undeniably gorgeous, he's athletic, smart, a flippin' prince, and to top it all of a Secret Agent.

My gosh does he look handsome in that training suit, I thought.

My Lord. I did not just say that about my best friend. I really have it bad.

"Well I'm sorry Mr. Perfect. Not everyone can be blessed with such amazing skills," I muttered sarcastically.

He lips twisted into a smirk as he lightly flicked my forehead.

Oh no he didn't.

"Fine. How about we take a break?" he suggested.

"YES! Oh hallelujah! You do not know how happy I am to hear that word!" I dramatically said. My happiness went on overload so I kissed Seth's cheek and ran to the break room, leaving him there with a blush spread across his handsome face.

Sitting in the break room couch, I munched on a Kit Kat. It was heaven. Seth came inside a few minutes later and plopped down next to me.

"Hey boss, are we done for the day?" I asked hopefully.

He chuckled and replied, "Yeah we're done. Not so bad for your first day huh?"

I rolled my eyes in response and said, "Please it was horrible and you know it. I couldn't even finish the mile lap without stopping to rest."

"Don't worry Jess it's only your first day. You'll get better I promise. After all I am the one who's training you," Seth said with a cocky smirk plastered on his face.

"Whoa what a big ego you have dear Prince. We don't want to get arrogant now do we?" I said jokingly.

Seth started to laugh which showed his pearly white set of teeth. His facial expression changed and he looked like he had something important to say.

He took a deep breath and said, "Jess I have to tell you something."

A nervous feeling came up in my stomach. I really hated this mysteriousness that floated in the air. Is he finally going to confess to me that he loves me like I have since we were young? Let's just hope my assumptions are true.

"I've liked this girl for a while now. We've been close and I like spending time with her. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner about how I feel. Jess.."

"Yeah?" I said smiling. It's true! It's finally coming true! Seth likes me!

"I asked one of the agents here out for a date one time. I had a great time and I know she's one! I asked her to be my girlfriend and guess what? She said yes! Skylar said yes!" Seth said with such joy in his deep pool of green eyes.

What?

Well then. Can't blame a girl for dreaming right? Hearing him say those words that he found someone else made my heart sink and shatter to pieces. I couldn't show him though or else he'll know that I'm in love with him. That would just ruin our friendship, and I don't want to lose him.

I forced a smile on my face and said, "Wow Seth, that's a-amazing! I'm glad you've found her. Lucky girl she is."

The bright smile on his face was evident that he was crazy about her. It made me feel even worse.

"I was going to tell you sooner but everything with your parents and all made me think that I should wait until everything was okay and falling in to place."

That's the thing Seth. Everything will never fall back to place, I thought.

I gave him a small smile and nodded understandingly. Why did it seem as if my life was crashing down? My parents are dead and the love of my life has found someone else. Depressing right?

"It's okay, I completely understand. Thank you. Just don't go ignoring me now okay?" I teased.

"I would never forget about you Jess. Your my best friend and one of the most important things to me," Seth said seriously but smiling sincerely. He gave me one big hug and lightly kissed my forehead. Just that one simple action sent my heart beating faster by the second.

"Yeah, best friends," I said to myself.

And that's all we'll ever be.
