Eliza's pov

Are you seriously kidding me?  Was my first thought when I stepped out of the fancy oak door of the fancy private school that Im forced to go to. Outside stood the queen bee of the plastic clique Natasha and her possé. I never know why but she and her so called group of friends always infuriated me. And somehow, today I felt that it was gonna be an unlucky day, because number one they never hung out  where the bicycles were kept as it was labelled as the 'poor part' of the school and number two-the so called 'boyfriend' who didnt even love her somehow noticed me. And knowing her past reputation, I knew that someone was gonna get beaten up. And it was not hard to know who.

"Well well well." Said the screechy voice that always irritated me and angered me in the past. "Looks like the slut finally decided to show up. What were you doing all this while? Hooking up with a nerd who couldn't really see how ugly you are?"

"Not really." I stated. "A funny thing happened. I was walking along the corridor, when weird sounds were coming from the janitor's closet. I pulled open the door to see a guy and girl screwing each other. Reminded me of a similiar incident some years back." I smirked.

The next moment I felt a stinging pain across my cheek."You know for a plastic. You sure do hit hard." "Stay away from me you bitch." She screamed."Gladly." I replied. I saw hurt flash in her eyes for a moment before it went away. "Let's go girls." She said. Good riddance I thought tears pricking my eyes. I stood silently for a moment gathering my wayward thoughts, when suddenly the parking lot started chiming with Carry on my wayward son. Hastily rubbing my tears that had escaped my eyes, I received the call. "Hey Peter." I smiled receiving a call from the only person who cared for me. "Hey El. You okay?" He said hearing my sad voice." Yup just peachy." "Oh ok. Remember you're needed in thirty minutes." "Yeah yeah I know." I said rolling my eyes. "Bye. See you soon." "Bye Peter." I sighed before keeping my phone and putting on my helmet and mounted the bicycle and started riding towards the direction  of the hospital.

Arriving at the hospital, I stood outside for a moment admiring the old Elizabethan structure. It was a stony building that looked for like a castle than a hospital from the outside but the moment you enter the building, there was the recognisable smell of dispenser, medicine and death. The hospital had been founded by my late great grandfather in the early eighties and even though the authorities thought they should rebuild the building, they couldn't do so. Atleast not without the consent of my uncle and mine.

The moment I entered the hospital, the cold air greeted me. I paused and looked around. There were nurses and doctors everywhere. Bustling in and out of rooms and people wating in the lobby. They all stopped to look at me and smiled. I smiled back. "Hey Beth." I smiled at the receptionist. "Hey E." She chirped back. "Long time no see. Go on though. Your uncle's waiting for you." "Bye." I said moving my fingers as a form of goodbye.

Pressing the up button on the I patiently waited for the lift to arrive. As soon as it arrived, I climbed up and pressed the third floor button. Arriving at the third floor, I kept on walking until I reached the third door to my right. I took a deep breath and knocked. "Come in" said my uncle's voice.

"Hey El." Said peter smiling. "You're right on time. Im surprised." Said the man who looked so much like the moon. "Are you okay though? Your cheek looks swollen." Crap. I had forgotten all about the bruise Natasha had so graciously adorned my face with. "Yeah. I'm fine. I just got hit with a ball during gym." You're such a clutz." Peter said smiling."How about you freshen up? My next patient will be arriving in a while.""Sure." I said shutting the door behind me and heaving a huge sigh for the fact that he believed the lie.

Rushing towards the washroom, I looked to see that it was empty. Flashing my face with water I looked at myself for the first time that day. My appearance was fine. But there was a purple bruise in my cheek and it had swollen up. If I didn't know better, it probably looked as if I was eating something. Taking out my nearly unused compact from my backpack, I applied makeup to the bruised area. Swinging my backpack onto my back, I took a deep breath and escaped the washroom. Depositing my bag in my uncle's room, I made it back to his office. I could hear voices inside. Breathing in and out,I knocked on the door."Come in." Said Peter.

I opened the door and it seemed that my breathe left my body. And the first thought that came to my mind was Are you seriously kidding me?
