Chapter 1

Knock.

Knock.

Knock.

I lowered by fist from the door as I stood in front of Carter's front door, waiting for him to answer. He's told me that I can come straight in but, it still just doesn't feel right. I would feel so uncomfortable just opening the door without permission.

I heard footsteps inside the house.

The door opened to reveal Carter. His blondish brown hair was in its usual messy style. His blue eyes still looking as bright as they were in 2nd grade. He was standing in the doorway, wearing sweatpants and no shirt. A normal occurrence. He smiled when he saw me standing at the door.

I returned the smile, "Hey Carter"

"Hello Lace. Now, why do I owe the pleasure of seeing you my dear best friend?" He said with a goofy smile.

"Stop being a dork and let me in" I said.

He pouted but moved out of the way, gesturing to go inside.

I stepped in and slipped off my shoes and walked over to the kitchen, following behind Carter.

"So what do you plan on doing for this week's video?" I asked him, hopping up onto the counter.

He turned to me, "Well, I was thinking maybe doing a Q and A video?" He suggested.

I nodded "Sure. I'll just put a post out saying to send questions, then we can start" He nodded as I took out my phone and sent out a quick post on the channel's page.

After I put my phone away I looked up to see Carter making popcorn, "Carter? It's like 4 in the afternoon," I said, glancing to the oven clock, "Why are you eating popcorn now?"

"It's not just for me. It's for you and me," he started, gesturing between us, "I'm gonna make you watch a movie of my choice." He said as he grabbed the bowl of popcorn and went towards his living room. I followed him out and sat down next to him on the couch.

"Ok what movie?" I asked slowly.

"X-Men" he said. I nodded and he turned the movie on.

Carter was seated in his usual seat on his bed with his laptop in his lap and I was behind the camera, getting ready to film the Q and A we had planned.

"How many questions are you answering?" I asked him as I looked up from the camera.

"Uh... I was thinking maybe 20 but I have a feeling like 5 or 10 will get cut out," he said, glancing up at me, "Let's also not forget that we don't have many people watching us"

I shrugged, "Alright" I said as I returned to the camera. I adjusted the the view finder and pointed the camera to Carter, centering him in the middle of the screen. I focused in on him and looked up, "Okay we're all set, are you ready?" I asked.

He nodded and I held up 3 fingers.
