I was angry at her, really angry. How dare she tarnish my reputation like this. She had made a laughing joke out of me. I had been staying indoors all day, but I knew what people were saying, Ambrose could not control his own employees. But I could, and I would.

I needed to distance myself from he-  him, for him. I could do it, I would. And yet, something in the pit of my stomach hurt as  I thought that. In such a short time, something had happened, something had changed, this... this... girl had begun to affect me, affect everything I did. I began to put her above me, and it had to stop. I spent my whole life creating the empire that I now had, and I wasn't about to let a little girl dance in and wreck it. I wasn't going to let her effect me like this, this whatever this was... was a waste of time... and I had already wasted too much time. I spent the whole day at my desk, files had piled up I had wasted too much time. That blasted woman and her need to call a doctor, I had wasted so much time!

The sun had begun to set, when I got a knock on my door.

"What, don't you know I have work that needs to be done." I was already behind, and now someone was here to waste even more of my time.

The door slowly opened and in walked Karim.

" Sahib, I have checked and no one is suspicious of your and his absence, everything is as it should be" he said bowing his head, seemingly aware of how irritated I was at the moment.

" Good then be on your way" I said dismissively, as I picked up my pen and continued to ink papers.

A few second had passed, and he still seemed rooted on the stop.

" Is there a reason you are still here?" I said without looking up.

" Sahib... the girl shes gathered the town for a ball" I continued working barely paying attention to what he was saying.

" And this concerns me how?" Why was everyone fixated on wasting my time.

" It is in celebration of her returning, people may question where she had gone" Now this caught my attention. I looked up to see Karim had turned pale, and had started to pace back and forth.

" Stop moving at once"

at once his steps slowed to a still. .

" what has she been telling people?" I asked. Karim looked up and with a grimace on his face, he said

"Im not sure, we will have to attend to see"

"very well then, be on your way" With those final words I continued working.

Great, now I would have to attend a stupid event, and waste my time there just to insure that she didn't say the wrong things to the wrong people. This ... man... was a lot of work.
