Chapter 5
My alarm clock was ringing loudly, I groaned and turned to look at it. I turned it off and hauled myself out of bed, I really wasn't a morning person, I hated them with a passion.
I pulled on my school uniform, it felt stiff since it had never been worn. It wasn't the worst uniform I've ever seen, since it was hot, I decided to wear a black skater skirt and the white school polo shirt. I hoped I wouldn't need a jumper because I didn't have enough space in my bag to carry one.
I applied a tiny bit of make up and pulled my hair into a pony tail, I wasn't really bothered about what I looked like, as long as I could get through the day. I went over to my jewellery box and took out the locket my mum passed down to me on my 15th birthday. It contained a picture of Joe and Ed on one side and a picture of myself and my parents. It was beautiful, I always wore it because it reminded me of my family. I placed the locket around my neck and took one last look in the mirror before heading downstairs.
"Good morning darling," my dad greeted me while placing a bowl of cereal in front of me.
"Thanks dad but I'm not really hungry, I'll take something to eat on the walk to school though." I said grabbing and Apple and putting it in my bag.
"Okay, call me if you want to come home at any point during the day though." He gave me a sad look and I knew he was talking about mum but I wanted to take my mind off of it. "Connor will be down in a minute."
I went upstairs to brush my teeth and when I came back Connor was waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs. I walked over to him and hugged him, he placed his arms around me and I buried my head into his shoulder.
"I'll let you sit with me at lunch if you want, then you'll know someone," he whispered, I smiled slightly at his thoughtfulness and pulled away from him.
"Thanks Con!" I replied, he looked me in the eyes and gave my hand a reassuring squeeze before we began our walk to school.
It wasn't far away from where Connor lived but it still gave us time to have a decent conversation.
"You never told me about yourself?" Connor started, looking at me curiously.
"My name is Elle Louise Ball, I'm 16, I have 3 half brothers and I love them all! My favourite colour is Orange, McFly are basically my life. I love ice cream too much, I can't get enough of it. The closest thing I've ever had to a real friend is my brother Joe and that's about it, my life isn't as interesting as yours." I looked up at him and he looked concerned.
"You must have had some friends?" He asked me.
"Not really, all the people who have said that they're my friend have only used me to get to other people, that's just something I want to change here." I told him. He pulled me into an awkward side hug.
"Everyone here will love you, and if they do ever hurt you, they're going to have to deal with me," he kissed my forehead before letting me go. I had noticed we were walking through the front gates of the school. I took a deep breath and mentally prepared myself for the day that lay ahead of me.
I glanced around the huge playground which lay before me, I could already make out the classic groups which you would find in a high school. The populars, the sporty guys, the nerds, the kids no one liked and the in between people. I had no idea who I was going to end up talking to.
I followed Connor over to a small group of people, mainly made up of boys but a few girls were standing around. They were a range of different ages the youngest being my age and the oldest being about 19. I spotted Paul and Robbie immediately as they were the only people I knew who were already standing there. Everyone else curiously looked at me and Connor.
