The wind blew gently across my face as I began to wander down the lane, pebbles crushing under my feet. The hairs on my arm stood up against the cold and my eyes squinted to see through the fog, my jacket was left at home, slumped on the banister.
The houses either side almost mirrored each-other, neat hedges, lit up windows, and a light dusting of frost covering the perfectly trimmed lawns.
The birds tweeted gently, perched on phone wires, barely visible against the grey sky above.
It was my favourite part of the day; walking the two blocks to school. I could be alone there; with no one to bother me or stop me from being myself.
I was considered the popular boy at school. Sure, I had a large group of friends from football, and other classes that I reluctantly took, but that didn't mean that I actually liked them. I much preferred to be alone- just me and nature.
Girls almost 'fell' at my feet. I guessed it was because of my looks, bleach blond hair, a dusting of freckles, blue eyes and long eyelashes- I didn't and still don't think much of myself though.

Little did I know, that that very day was going to be the start of something magical. Something that took my breath away, and was beyond belief. It came at the perfect time, my hopes where running slim.
Arriving at school just on time, I was greeted at school by a large group of boys, my friends. Matty, someone who I had known for years, greeted me with a strong hug and smiled widely.
"Aiden! I've missed you man!" Matty said with bright eyes, waiting for a response.
I chuckled softly and mumbled replies to many questions before the school bell rung in my ears.
My first class of that day was Maths, the class I dreaded the most. The wind outside was picking up speed, and the rain became heavier against the windows as I entered the corridor.
Many people greeted me with smiles and compliments as I wandered down the hall, in search of my first lesson. Just then, a group of around 4 girls came around a corner, nudging eachother and giggling childishly.
One of them mumbled a "hi" shyly, before running off excitedly to join her friends.

You'd think that I enjoyed that kind of attention, but secretly, I hated it more than anything.
The corridors where dull and bleak, there where no posters or colours anywhere, just grey walls and blue doors, with small golden writing on each handle.

Finally reaching my class, I took a seat nearer the back than usual, and took out my headphones. If I had to take this lesson, I might aswell do something I enjoyed in it- listen to my music.

Coldplay- Viva La Vida came onto my phone, and I sat back and shut my eyes, relaxing into the song. The teacher of the class, Mrs Denvy was always distracted with some other marking or preparation to notice me anyway. She was a short woman, with grey hair and glasses that sat on the end of her nose. She always wore knee length dresses and grey cardigans, paired with red pumps.
Maths went quicker than I expected, and I realised science was my next class.
It wasn't too bad, but I knew that we where doing a project that term, and a project meant a partner - something that I hated.

I took my seat in the class and anticipated who my partner was going to be. I scanned the class before something caught my eye. It was a new girl. She wore rounded glasses and had mosey brown hair that swept down past her back. She wore white converse, a blue skirt and tights under a knitted cardigan. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.

The professor walked in 10 minutes late, and showed everyone to their seats.

"Today class, we have a new student- this is Jupiter May, so all make her feel welcome please." He briefly spoke before returning to his desk and reflecting over some paperwork.

Matty came up from behind me and began to speak about the new girl, right in front of her face.

" she's a looker right!" He laughed, sarcastically at his own joke.
"What a nerd! I mean those glasses! Who even wears those?" He continued.
Stupidly, I laughed along, noticing the hurt in Jupiters eyes.

"Okay class, settle down," the professor began," I'm going to announce your partners."
I was right at the begging of the list, and so I didn't need to wait long for an answer.

"Aiden, you'll be with Jupiter this project, so take your seat right over there." He pointed to a table in the corner next to the window.
Matty was laughing right at me as I gathered my bags and took them to my assigned seat. I didn't know what to do, I had just made fun of the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, she was going to hate me.

"So! Your new here right?" I spoke with a smile, trying to keep the conversation light.

Jupiter looked right at me, analysing my face for a second, before blankly nodding.
She took out her books and began taking notes.
Disappointed, I did the same, writing down what the whole project was about.
None of us spoke for the rest of the lesson, but occasionally she would look up and stare at me, before continuing her work in silence.
The rest of the class went quickly, mainly because I was so exited about having Jupiter as my partner.

"Class, before I dismiss you, I want you to arrange to meet up with your partners outside of school to work on this project, okay?" The professor announced.
A look of horror filled Jupiters face before she packed her things and left swiftly.

"Jupiter wait!" I called after her, but she had already left. My heart sank, but my mind was spinning. I couldn't wait for science the next day, I was going to make things right with her.
