Chapter 18: I Really do love you

Two weeks later*

I’m sitting in my room packing up all my stuff.  I can’t wait to get back home with my mom, now that summer has ended.  I stood up from my bed organizing my clothes into piles. It fit easier in my suitcase that way. I then stood their reflecting on the times I had in New York. My first kiss with Ethan, and of course! Discovering, some of my powers.  Ever since the banquet, Ethan hasn’t called me since. But I didn’t care…Well I did but, it’s different know. I was so filled with mixed emotions. I stopped loading my suitcase, and I stood there biting my lip softly, for a while. Then I closed my eyes.

I couldn’t stop thinking about our lips locking in a passionate, but sensitive notion. The sparks bursting, and the way our hands intertwined in a powerful force. I guess it really was love…I mean love that went wrong. I think we rushed our relationship, or I may have given him the wrong impression. I guess sex, was never my intentions in a relationship.

I stood their bummed and confused. Until, my phone started to vibrate.

Oh great! I said in a sarcastic tone, it’s Ethan.  I waited as the phone proceeded to ring twice before answering. I didn’t want to seem eager, or come off as desperate. Just wanting to hear, his soft masculine voice again. I should make him beg…or? I think that’s too much. I stood there pacing back and forth until…

I picked up the phone from the side of my bed; and I held it up.

“Shit!” I said softly, hoping my dad wouldn’t hear.

I missed his call. But thankfully he left a voicemail. It said:

I really miss you, and I’m sorry if I hurt you in any way. I admit our relationship was happily rushed into. But it definitely did not run its course. I can’t lose you. You’re my best friend… And something stupid that I did! Should never, change that. I really do…Love you Heather.

Before he could finish his message he paused for a second. I could hear his breath scattering all over the phone. His voice slowly cracking, and his nose sniffling as if it had been stuffy. He sounded as if he was…crying.

A tear rolled down my eye, and my head started to pound suddenly. I couldn’t take it anymore. I wanted to bawl, cry and shout. But I held it in…I’m a sensitive junkie. It hurt so much for me to hear him cry.

So I ended the voicemail before it could finish. I dashed my phone in my bag, and then I touched my necklace. It was glowing bright red. The necklace shined brighter, as another diamond grew in place. Now four, out of the six diamonds were visible. I wondered why this time…Maybe since Ethan apologized it helped me to realize something else.

Don’t lose real friends, and…men are dogs. Until they call you back crying of course. Now that’s just sexy!

My tears began to subside from my joke,  as I finally finished packing. Then I zipped my suitcase closed

----------------------------

“Heather, are you ready.” Yelled my dad.

“Yeah!” I yelled back.

I stood looking across the room  with my luggage in my hand, I smiled. Overall I was happy that I was able to spend the summer with my dad, or…Ethan. Either way it was a bonus!

I laughed at the thought. It was a good summer with love, a heartbreak, and new beginnings. Now I have to go back to school. Blech! I shacked, my head disgusted by the word. Sounds more like juivnile detention. Urgh…

 Another major FML!

But I still can’t complain though…Im an angel, I pretty much know everything. Thank god for the specialized program at Lawson High. Or the FBI would be knocking on my door by now.  Who ever heard of a 16 year old being offered, the position of teaching a grade twelve course;  In friggin’ calculus!

Damn, I got to keep my cover. Just hoping no one at my school, thinks I’m from another land. Or a unordinary species.

 AKA. Which I am!

I chuckled as I left the room, Then I flew downstairs.

“Wow I’m amazed Heather.” Laughed my dad

“You’re using your powers, I’m proud of you. “ He clapped, and then ran up to hug me. “I’ll miss you; tell your mom I said hi.” He smiled, and then kissed my forehead.

Wait…Hold on!

“Have fun you two, and Mark don’t crash into clouds and birds!”  Aunty Katie yelled from the kitchen.

Why would she say don’t crash in to any clouds, or birds…Oh shit! I thought.

“Oh Shit is right Heather, We are gonna fly there! It’s time you show you’re old man what you’ve got!” He laughed.

“Ugh…Please stop reading my mind, and that’s so not cool!” I growled past him.

“Ok, on a count of three we are going to run then fly. I’m sure you’ll do just fine.” He said calmly.

Easy for him to say…

“One…”

I’m so not ready for this dad!

“Two…Too bad”

Oh help…

“Three!”

We both jetted out into the sky. He was flying in front of me, as I struggled to keep up with my luggage weighing me down.

He kept yelling back at me to imagine myself floating on cloud nine, floating peacefully.

I’m not gonna lie, it did work.

His white wings batted in the direction he moved. It was an extraordinary thing to look at. The sun kissed his wings slightly, as they started to glow brighter and brighter.

Wait…

His whole body was glowing in the wind. His head turned to me, and his eyes were glowing blue as his body began to fade in the wind.

He yelled “Heather hold on quick.”

I flew up faster, as I struggled to reach closer to my father. I let one of my hands run free. Finally our hands intertwined together.

I could see my body glowing as well, as we faded into the bright sky.

And then, it happened…
