Chapter 1:Dealineation

Evie

I cook early in the morning. No one's around to distract me. Nobody's telling me what ingredients to add or leave out. Time doesn't exist. I measure, I pour, I beat, I blend. My mind is uncluttered.

And this morning was no exception. I knew that by noon it would be to hot to cook. Sweat already tickled the hairs on my neck, running down the insides of my arms as I whipped up my latest culinary masterpiece. The last time I'd tried making this particular soufflé, it caved in like a crater on the moon.

But I knew now what I had done wrong. Soufflés depend on eggs and time. Not one second should be wasted between the beating of the whites and the opening of the oven door. A sudden draft might be deadly.

While making the soufflés the doorbell suddenly rang. I answered it to see only a baby in a carriage crying with a note that read: Please take care of my child, I can't afford it right now. Her name is Cleopatra and she's 5 months old, any questions contact my number 123-690-765 (made up)

I picked up Cleopatra placing her on the baby bed from my child hood which we kept. I would have to tell my mom about this when she came home from work.

I got a baby bottle out the cabinet and placed it on the counter putting formula in it then the oven alarm went off and the door opened at the same time. There stood my baffled mom,dad,and brother.

After explaining everything to them they each read the note and looked at me nodding there head making me the only one confused.

"What?" I asked raising an eyebrow and crossing my arms

"Your going tuh have to take care of her, I have soccer practice,mom has work and same for dad" I nodded my head he had a good point but I don't have time for a baby
I still bake and cook.

"Fine" I groaned

"We'll go shopping for baby things tommorow" My mom squealed I rolled my eyes running upstairs and slamming the door(¬_¬)(╯°□°)╯︵ ʞooqǝɔɐɟ
