~Chapter 3~

Laurence's P.O.V

I get thrown backwards, my back smashes into the wall. "GARROTH" I scream. He turns around swiftly and sees me laying down on the floor, a look of fear flashes across his face. "WATCH OUT" He turns around and before he can react an arrow pierces through his body, right under his heart, missing by at least 5cm. I scream in pain and stand up with shaking legs. I see his limp body lying on the ground and I see him gasping for breath. He's struggling and he's trying to come toward me but he can't move, "Garroth stay there I'm coming" his head goes limp and it drops to the ground. I make my way over and collapse next to him. I take his body and hold him close and rock him, "Please Garroth, Please. Don't leave me, I love you so much." He takes his hand and wipes away a tear, he tries to get words out of his mouth but he fails, the light slowly leaves his eyes and his whole body goes limp.. the tears start to stream and I hold him close "I love you Garroth" I sob into his head, kiss him on the forehead and place his body gently on the ground. I pick up my sword and limp away..

"AH" My body shoots upwards and sweat is running down my forehead. My breathing is heavy and fast. I look down and I'm dirty and wet. Im in a bed that looks very familiar. I can feel my face being wet and tearstained. I look around panicking and I see non-other then Garroth. His face is pale and you can tell he's panicking..

"A-Are y-ou okay?" He's looking at me with fear in his eyes and worry in his voice.

I look at him relieved and let my heart take over my body, I jump out of bed and wrap my arms around his neck. I start to sob into his shoulder and he relaxes and wraps his arms around my body, he hugs me tight and doesn't let go.

"Garroth don't ever do that to me again.." I say into his shoulder, I can tell he's confused but he doesn't let go. About 3 minutes of hugging he lets go and says,

"What were you doing in the middle of the forest? I was so worried about you.." He asks. I feel my face flush slightly and turn pink, I kind of hide my face in my arms and say,

"W-Well.. U-Um.." I say rubbing the back of my neck with my hand. He clears his throat which make me smile.

I remove his helm so I can see his face, he raises an eyebrow and looks at me weirdly.

"Um Laurence?" He looks at me with his big blue eyes and we make eye contact, neither of us pull away and I can feel myself draw closer to him...

Garroth's P.O.V

As Laurence's face draws closer to mine I suck in a fast breath, is he about to kiss me? I don't know weather to be happy or highly confused. I close my eyes preparing for the kiss I've been waiting for but then I hear a door open and close and a small gasp. Laurence stops inching closer but he doesn't move. My eyes shoot open and I turn around quickly. I see Aphmau at the door, confusion takes over her face before happiness takes full control. "Laurence!! You're awake!!"

Her lips go from a straight line to a huge smile showing off all of her teeth. She sprints over from the door to the bed and throws her arms around him. A flash of pain goes through my chest and I tell myself to realize he probably doesn't like me and that he's free game, he's not mine. But its not like it wont hurt. As Aphmau is hugging him I realize he doesn't take his eyes off of me as he wraps his arms around her.

"I was so worried about you.." Her voice cracks slightly. Hardly noticeable.

"I'll let you two have some privacy" before I stand up I see Laurence flash me an apologetic look. I force my face away from him and walk out of the room, grabbing my sword on the way out. I feel my heart slowly break as I walk down the hall because they could be kissing right now and I'd have no idea. I shouldn't have let my guard down that easily.

About three hours after waking up and starting my rounds I decided to call it a night. It's been a very long day for me and I just wanted to close my eyes. I report to Aphmau at her home getting a giant hug from Levin. I walk down the steps and over to the guard tower. As usual, I expect to see Laurence sitting at the table, like always. Taking a sip of his coffee. Three sugars and the perfect amount of cream, with a book and quill in his hand writing down all of his adventures. One of the many things I love about him. But once I walk into the tower he's not there, I raise an eyebrow in confusion. I go upstairs and check his room but he's not there. Panic runs through my heart and into my veins, a chill goes down my back and I shiver.

"I can't loose him again..." I say out loud to myself.

"Who?" A small tired voice comes from behind me and I turn around too see Laurence rubbing his eyes. He's even cute when he's tired.

"O-Oh u-u-m don't w-worry about it" I stutter and I stretch to rub the back of my neck.

"You should get some sleep.." he shakes his head as soon as I finish the sentence.

"Tried that, sleep isn't working in my favour" he smiles sideways and looks at me with drooping eyes. I return the look with sympathy,

"Here, follow me.." I motion towards the door as I walk towards it, he seems confused but walks with me.

As we walk through the streets of Phoenix Drop we are walking so close together that our hands hit each other every once and a while. I feel his gaze on me, I want to look at him but I didn't want to make it awkward. I can't hold back and I meet his gaze. He quickly turns away and I can't help but let out a small laugh.

"What?" He laughs with me.

Oh just admiring your smile.. "Oh nothing" I lie. He elbows me in the shoulder and I flinch. Rubbing my arm, we look at each other and break out laughing. He stops laughing and yawns

"Please Laurence, go try and sleep.. I'll cover your shift." I take off my helm and smile at him. He gives me a look thats hard to read but he looks like he feels bad.

"Thanks Garroth, I won't forget this" he says to me as he starts jogging back to the tower. I watch the love of my life turn around and run away from me and disappear around the corner. I let out a breath I had no idea I was holding in,

I love you Laurence

Welp, that took a long time to write but I wanted to put out a long chapter so here it is :D I am at a sleepover right now and my friend is looking at me like I'm crazy so I'm gonna cut it off here before it hits 1300 words... oops.
