Saturday morning brought Vic teaching me a new dance, following another gym session. It was quickly becoming apparent that I was not naturally skilled when it came to dancing, but could pick it up easily enough when I focussed. By mid-afternoon, I was able to do the basic steps of the Fox Trot.

Eventually, it was time to get showered and dressed ready for dinner. Vic had decided to trust that I wouldn't try to get away, feeling better in the knowledge that I would have almost nothing if I did somehow manage to get separated from him, Jaime, Mike and Tony. I had no intentions of trying to get away though, I'd made a promise and I fully intended to stick by it.

Vic walked me back to my bedroom, and told me to go and shower the moment we got there, while he picked out some clothes for me to wear. I did as I was told, heading straight for the bathroom, closing and locking the door, then stripping off and standing under the hot stream of water. I could hear him moving about in the next room, and only started to wash properly when I heard the door click shut and the movement cease.

When I got back out to my bedroom, I found he left out a smart looking combination of black trousers and a pale blue shirt. It didn't take long for me to dress in them, before putting on the equally smart black shoes by the foot of the bed. I then made my way down to the sitting room, where we were all going to meet before going out to the cars. Mike was already sat on one of the couches, with the TV switched onto a heavy metal music channel. I sat down on one of the other couches, watching the music video for whatever song was playing. Not a minute later, Vic came in through the door, hair still damp from the shower, followed by Jaime and Tony.

We shut off the TV, and I followed Tony towards the front door. Vic walked beside me, fiddling with the cuffs of his grey shirt. When we got outside, I saw two cars ready and waiting for us. One was a small red sports car, which looked very much like a Mazda RX-8, and was sat next to a two seater black convertible car that appeared to be a Jaguar.
"We will meet you guys there. Kellin, into the Jag."

The drive took about half an hour, through lots of twisting roads until we finally saw the ocean. It was a spectacular view, with the sun setting over the calm body of water. Vic chuckled, obviously hearing my gasp.
"Anyone would think that you'd never seen the sunset by the coast before." I shrugged, letting my silence speak louder than my words could. "Wait, you haven't?"
"No time or money to. Its not something I have ever been desperate enough to see." Suddenly, Vic was pulling over.
"The others can wait. You will watch the sun go down over the water, and you will watch out now."
"Vic, the sentiment is lovely, but I can watch it another time. Right now we have a restaurant to go to." He looked at me, scowling.
"You promise I can bring you back tomorrow? No restaurant to eat at, just you, me and a picnic."
"Yes, you can bring me to watch it, and we can eat dinner while we watch it." The car started up again and we pulled out again.

The restaurant itself was pretty small, with barely enough space for more than a handful of customers to eat indoors. There was a beautiful patio space, with heaters and what looked like a gazebo that could be put up to protect the tables beneath from the rain. I got the feeling that they relied on people being able to sit outside all year round. The food was good though, and service polite and friendly. I ended up ordering a simple burger, following a plate of calamari to start, all of which was cooked to perfection. When we were finished, and Vic had paid the bill leaving what appeared to be a fifty dollar bill as a tip, we walked down to the sea front, onto the promenade along the top of the sea wall.

Mike, Tony and Jaime stuck with us for a bit, before speeding off into the distance, leaving me and Vic to wander along at our own leisurely pace.
"This was nice. Thank you Vic, for bringing me out here tonight."
"Its nothing really. If you're happy then that's what matters." The way he said that reminded me so strongly of what Mike and Tony had told me before, about him doing anything to make me fall in love with him.
"Still, its nice to do something new, and go somewhere that I hadn't been."
"I know, I'm sorry for keeping you stuck in the house. If there was another way, believe me, I'd take it. Come here." He stopped walking down the promenade and instead turned to lean on the railings. "I know this is all so tough for you, me dragging you into this mess the way I did, before announcing that I am in love with you. I tried Kellin, I really did, to find someone else, to fall in love the way most people do. But I couldn't, nothing I did changed the way I feel about you. I spent years dating other people, doing everything I could think of. Nothing worked Kellin. I know you don't feel the same way about me, and I wouldn't deserve it if you ever did, but you need to know that I love you."

We stood together in silence for a few minutes, me trying to work out what to say, how to respond to something so real. Vic seemed to be peaceful, happy even to have said that to me. It was the thought of my mum that gave me the courage to reply.
"You're a good person Vic. If my Mum had of been around to bring me up, and we had of grown up together, then I might have had the chance to return those feelings. But that's not how it played out, and I don't know how this is going to end. I do know that a month is not long enough to fall in love, that takes more time." He considered my response , still staring out over the ocean.
"Then let's be friends. I refuse to let you walk out of my life. And if I can't end up married to someone soon, Mike will take the crown and I can spend half the year here with you forever. You can have the house when we leave college, what you do with it is up to you. Just make sure I have somewhere over here I can live."
"I can do friends."
