There's Always Hope

Chapter 3

I finally got my brother to get in my car. Just after closing and locking the door I felt a presence behind me assuming it was my brother I turned to punch him in the arm, not too hard just like a playful punch, but after I did I realized it was a mistake because it wasn't my brother. Zack quickly grabbed my wrist and twisted. I apologized about twenty times but he didn't believe me. I finally broke loose and got into my car. My brother looked at me with his jaw nearly touching his chest, but he closed it when I gave him a look with desperate eyes.

"How long has he been hurting you?"

I stared at the road ahead of me.

"SAM, HOW LONG?"

"Not very long," lie.

"Why haven't you told anyone?"

"I'm afraid! Okay? Can you please not tell anyone?

"How the hell am I not going to tell anyone that my big sister is being hurt by her boyfriend. He told me he loved you. Someone who loves you wouldn't lay a finger on you. I'm going to kill him!"

"No Ben please don't I love him and he loves me! I mean I punched him in the arm I deserved it!

"No you didn't! It wasn't a hard punch and he could have broken your wrist. Im going to tell mom and dad okay?

"I tried they thought I was joking!"

"I'm telling someone."

"Please don't. Ill take care of it, just not right now."

"I wont."

"Promise?"

"Promise"

The rest of the car ride was silent except for the bumps of the road and the cars passing. I turned on the radio to break the silence. The first song was 'Do I' by Luke Bryan so I changed the station, I couldn't take a slow song right now. The second song 'Heart Attack' Demi Lovato so I listened to it because it was almost over. The third song 'Best song Ever' by One Direction, I wasn't the biggest fan of the group but I knew they had talent but I knew almost nothing about the group, just that because they lost the British X-Factor they became the biggest boy band in the world. The station was soon changed by my brother. We ended up listening to some song by Macklemore I think it was called 'Can't Hold Us' it's not a horrible song, I'm just not that into rap. We arrived at my aunts and Benji got out and slammed the door.

I walked over to my parents who were talking to a girl which I'm guessing was a cousin of mine. They introduced us and let me to talk very uncomfortably with her.

"So Sam, your parents told me you're a Junior in high school?"

"Yup."

"Do you have a boy friend?"

"Listen Chloe, I know you could care less about my life so lets cut to the chase, my parents told you to talk to me right? You honestly can walk away because I know you don't care. Okay?"

Chloe walked away in shock. I walked over to my other cousin that I actually knew, James, we held a conversation nearly the whole reunion but toward the end he was shooed away by my brother. Benjamin asked if I wanted to go for a walk so I nodded. Before we left I was stopped by my mom..

"Why did you yell at your cousin Chloe?"

"Mom I don't want to talk to people who you tell them to talk to me, I know she didn't want to talk to me and I was saving myself from an awkward conversation!"

"Samantha keep your voice down!"

"I'm going on a walk with Benjamin okay? We will be back in 30 minutes."
