Delta Seven watched Kita go down. He didn't know what happened, but she hadn't appeared again and that made him worry. Making a hasty decision, he ordered both armour groups to lay down a smokescreen, back out of their positions, and charge forward.
This was the first time he'd used the maneuver tactics Patton and Rommel had taught him. His crews were the best on The Mass, their gunnery skills unmatched, but mobile warfare tactics hadn't been taught. Only how to support infantry and hard point removal. Patton had laughed at him when he told them. Patton told him tanks were not slow mobile pillboxes or battering rams. A tank was meant to move fast and hit hard. You use tanks to lead the charge, concentrating them in an area to smash through the enemy to get behind them. Then you wheel around and attack the enemy from the rear. Today Delta Seven was going to find out if Patton knew what he was talking about.
His tanks responded immediately, those that had thermal sights switched over and continued to fire as they went. Once the armour had cleared the smoke, Delta Seven ordered them into a large wedge formation and drove his tanks into the large flank of the enemy. The sudden movement of the tanks caught both sides of guard.
Snowy screamed at Delta Seven wanting to know why he'd left the ridges.
"The Commandant went down while digging a ditch. To protect her we had to go to her. I'm using Patton's lessons. I've ordered my tanks to attack their flanks and drive for the center. Once at the center the wedge will split. The lower half will attack those between them and infantry line. The top half will turn and attack those in front of them."
"Dammit Colonel, why didn't you check with me first?" Snowy screamed.
"It was a command decision and as Patton says, "I'm the Jonny on the spot"."
Snowy grit her teeth. "Fine, but don't have that top half go forward in a line, have them go up in a wide V and push the enemy together. I will have Paladin and Omega start strafing and bombing the area." Snowy replied calming down.
"Understood Commander."
"What's Kita's condition?"
"Unknown at this time I'm moving forward with my armour group. I have a platoon of infantry headed to her location as well as most of The Horde members who were with me."
"Alright, I will get someone out there to help. Keep me updated on your progress."
"Yes, Commander."
Once Delta Seven was gone Snowy called Tina and Anthrax, "How's the loading going?"
"Nearly finished. The shuttles should leave in the next few minutes. Everyone's aboard." Tina replied.
