The Humans can be so blind. They think they are so alone in the universe but really they aren't even alone on their own planet. They are completely clueless as to the fact that they are the most insignificant of all The Races. I'll explain. The Races can be divided into two groups the Mortals and the Immortals. Humans and animals fall under the Mortals. So do minor plants like flowers. The Immortals are a very large collective of Races far more vast than the Mortals. Except that our peoples have been disappearing. Some have been trying to figure out why but we truthfully just don't know. I obviously fall under the Immortals category. I'm what the humans call an angel, but that's not what we call ourselves. My Race is the oldest and definitely the strongest and we have the greatest connection to the Mother Creator and the Father Keeper. Some of us talk to them, but we as a race are dieing and there are only a handful of us left. we are the truest of Immortals and that is what we call ourselves, Immortals.
There's me - Rachel, my brother Caden, Claire my best friend, her love Nathen. there's my love David, and also Casper, Grey, Aaron, and Kaylie. Casper and Grey have been together for as long as I've known them and Aaron and Kaylie pretty much just found each other. Caden is the youngest among us at only 328 years. I'm almost a millennium old at 961, David is at 1,032 and we've been together for just over 600 years and right now that's a lot of numbers to think about so I'll just say Casper and Grey are much, much older than me and David, but Aaron and Kaylie are just in between me and Caden. We all have wings that match our eyes and we all have ranging eye colors from silver to gold.
We were on a trek across Russia. We were tracking a Race we thought to be responsible for the deaths of The Races who called themselves Puritans.
The snow was melting off the ground leaving it muddy and wet. there were no signs of life, not that i expected there to be this far from any village or town. we had been walking for days and not seen anything that could be useful to us. i for one was ready to give but i would never say it.
we had made camp on a raised dry patch of land overlooked by a completely barren tree. of course Caden was the one who offered to climb the ridiculously large tree and stand guard all night. i swear the boy could go for weeks without sleep and still be able to stand up tall and walk another hundred or so miles without any signs of fatigue. but i knew why it was him who always climbed the trees or the high rises. he was the...ninth wheel in our group, the only one who didn't have a lover. that and he's the youngest so when he is with us he's the focus of our jokes.
It was no small surprise when he called down to us and pointed to the West. We all stood weapons in hand and ready for a fight. I could see Caden standing in the tree, bow ready with an arrow already knocked and the string drawn. I knew the light our fire gave off made us completely visible, weapons included but the shadows continued toward us. About a hundred meters off I saw they clearly for the first time, with no weapons out.
They clearly weren't looking for a fight but they weren't human. Their utter confidence gave that away. They entered our campsite and knelt. They clearly knew what we were.
"Please stand." Casper spoke in Russian and they all stood but never took their eyes off the ground as was their place.
"Truest of all Immortals, my deepest apologies for interupting your night but a rumor has been going around that you are looking for our Race. We five were elected to be the ambassadors and escort you to our home, where you may stay as long as you wish and find the information you seek." the leader replied in Russian, his voice deep.
"Are you the Puritans?" Grey said on edge.
"We are my Lady... "
" Gracen." Casper snapped, "You may escort us to your home now."
During the short conversation, the rest of us had begun to pack the things up when we heard they were ambassadors and finished shortly after their words had ended.
Maybe half an hour after we had started walking the leader stopped us at a large boulder. He drew a large skelaton key from inside his robes. He opened a small hidden door at the base of the boulder and slid the key inside. There was a loud clicking noise and then the ground started to tremble. The Puritans ushered us away from the rock to see the groung turn from flat muddy grass to muddy, grassy stairs leading to clean wooden stairs that formed a spiral staircase illuminated by torches
