Like most people in the room, I stare at the bruise in curiosity and horror. Whispers carry around the room, rumor's already being created and spread like a disease. Carter whips her head to me with raised eyebrows and questions in her eyes. I simply shrug. I have no idea what happened to Miller after he left mine yesterday, and to be honest i'm not sure I want to.
"Shh" Mr Sanders tries to quieten the room, but with no success. Miller shrugs and makes his way over to a desk a couple of rows behind mine, dumping his rucksack onto the floor and placing his notepad and pen in front of him. Catching me watching him, he gives me a small smile and then returns his eyes to an exasperated Mr Sanders.
"Well, uh, you've met Miller. We'll now return to the lesson" Mr Sanders mutters and goes back to his laptop. Everyone is still talking animatedly to each other and I watch as Daisy Nelson perches on Millers desk and seductively smiles down at him. I roll my eyes, and swivel back round not interested in what's inevitably going to happen next. I don't know what else I expected, just because Miller was nice to me yesterday, doesn't mean we're actually friends. Carter gestures sticking her fingers down her throat and puking at the scene unfolding behind me, making me giggle.
"Anyway, back to the structure of a leaf" Mr Sanders finally has his power point up, and I inwardly groan at the thought of being bored out of my mind for the next hour.

"Wow Eden, it was really an understatement when you called Miller 'quite attractive'" mutters Carter as we walk over to our table in the cafeteria. We sit down next to our other and only friend Marcus, who's already consumed by one of his comic books. He looks up and smiles in greeting before returning to his comic again, grabbing fries from his plate every once in a while.
"I suppose so" I say, and take a bite of the apple I grabbed this morning "if your into that sort of look" I comment nonchalantly.
She stares at me with wide eyes. "I think everyone's into that kind of look" she says. "Even Marcus." He looks up at the mention of his name, but decides that whats he's reading is more interesting than our conversation. I laugh at her comment, and begin to choke on my apple, coughing and spluttering everywhere. A couple of heads turn my way and snicker at the mess i'm getting my self into. I suddenly feel a hand rub my back and gently hit it a couple of times until I finally spit out the apple that had blocked my airway.
I turn around in shock and see Miller standing behind me. I jerk away from his hand now resting on my shoulder and scowl at him. "What are you doing over here, where's Daisy?" I snap, and my eyes widen at the venom and subtle jealousy in my tone. I realize he just saved me from chocking half to death, and quickly smile. "Thanks for that by the way" I say apologetically.
"I was about to say Eden, wheres you gratitude? I practically just saved your life" he teases, and a smirk forms on his lips. He slips onto the bench seat beside me and runs his hands through his hair. I've noticed this is a habit of his.
"Errrmm, what are you doing?" I repeat slowly. I'm confused why he's sitting here, when it's clear the popular students have already accepted him as one of their own. I glance around me and realize the majority of the cafeteria are watching us with confusion and some at me with envy.
"Eden! don't be so rude" Carter exclaims shooting me a glare and then Miller a grin. "I'm Carter" she says and holds out her hand to him, which he takes and gently shakes smiling.
"Miller. Nice to meet you" he says kindly.
"I know who you are Miller, everyone's talking about you y'know" she says " Oh and this is Marcus" she nods towards Marcus who looks up from his comic to Miller, nods and looks back down again. I sigh, he's even more socially awkward I am.
