Rain and I enter the clearing. The moon will be rising shortly, butI can already feel its pull. Rain told me that it takes some time to learn how to keep from changing during the full moon, so I just take a calming breath as I watch the gathering wolves. The swelling over my left eye is gone, and my ribs are only a little sore now. I like this whole fast healing thing; it's rather nice. Your welcome, grumbles my wolf. I smile inwardly at him.

"Are you okay?" Rain ask me quietly.

"Yeah I'm fine," I give her a wan smile, "it's just a little overwhelming." She gives me a wry smile.

"After everything you've been through, this last month will be fine. You will shift, we will get to meet your wolf, you will fully join the Pack, and you will run with the Pack for the first time."She squeezes my arm in reassurance.

"Man, your sister is stubborn as hell." Grumbles G as he walks up to us.

"Hey, that's my sister you're talking about," I arch my eyebrow at him, "and you don't know the half of it." I chuckle, shaking my head.

"Yeah that's what I figured, but goddess she's worth it." He grins.

I give him an answering grin. He claps me on the shoulder and walks off. Molly really wanted to be here tonight, but we decided that it would be best if she wasn't here, just in case. It's not that I don't want her to be here, I just don't want to risk her getting hurt or turned if I lose it because of the beast after I shift for the first time. She wouldn't listen to me or G when we told her, so we got lupa Sam to step in and tell her no. She's been pouting about it for the last three days.

"Gather 'round everyone!" Call's alpha John. "We have a special full moon tonight."

Now as Sam has explained it to me, werewolves don't have to shift during the full moon. Though the urge to shift during the full moon is stronger than normal, and until young or new wolves learn to control that urge, they will have to shift during the full moon. The River Wind Pack shifts as a group during the full moon as a way to bond as a Pack.

"Tonight William Hawkins will shift for the first time and fully join our Pack. William?"

Alpha John motions for me to join him in the center of the gathering area. The Pack forms a circle around the two of us. Deep breaths, Will, just take deep breaths. Is someone shy about being the center of attention?  Yes, furball; I don't like being the centerof attention. I prefer to blend in. Well you're going to have to get used to it. We are too strong to 'just blend in,' Will. Yeah I know that, doesn't mean I have to like it.

I look up into the night sky. The moon is full and shining down, its silvery light making the tree's seem to glow softly in the gathering dark. I take a deep breath and let it out slowly, letting my eyes wander over the people around me.
