SKY
I remember what it was like to wake up every morning for school. I remember hating to ride the bus because I always had to sit next to this weird kid who liked sports. I remember going into study hall thinking why'd I ever needed this class. It felt like yesterday, but in reality, it was 5 years ago.
I am now a senior in college. Life has been one hell of ride so far. Ever since I was little there was always something going on in my life. There was always something to cry about. Which I hardly ever did. Many people have died in my family. Many people have stabbed in my back. Many people left. But the past is what made me into the person I am today.
"I'm going out to this sick new party up by kingsways. You should come unless you're not too busy," Alex hummed. Alex is my roommate. She's had always been there for me, all 5 years I have known her. She doesn't know a lot from my past and the pain I had grown up with, but she knows enough.
"I think I'll pass. I have to study," I say eyeing all the books and papers in front of me. There's a knock at the door. She huffs and walks towards it as I put my glasses on.
"You're early," She simply says.
"Sorry I was told to be here at 7," I make eye contact with the man at the door. There stood a tall husky guy who was handsome, to say the least. He had dark shaggy hair and wore black skinny jeans and a white t-shirt. Very simple. He had a dark raspy voice. I had never seen him before. It's always someone different. I look back down at my books and grab my pen. I try to concentrate on my papers in front of me as she walks around the dorm trying to get ready.
"I told you 7:30. And it's only 6:55." Classic Alex. Her OCD always gets the best of her. "Ugh, where are my heels!"
"In the closet to the left," I say out loud as I type on my computer.
"Is she always like this?" The guy asks me. I glance up at him.
"You get used to it," and I don't say anything else. I don't really like talking to people I don't know. I guess that's why I only have so many friends. I usually keep to myself. More friends equals more drama. Something I have enough of.
My phone rings causing me to jump. Alex's friend laughs but I ignore him.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Sky. It's me. Do you think you can come in?" Cam, my boss, said through the phone. He calls like every other day knowing I'll pick up a shift when given. I'm always looking for work.
"Um for how long?" I asked standing up.
"Couple hours or so. Casey had to leave for an emergency. I have no one for a bartender."
"Yeah sure. I'll be there in 20." I say then hang up. I quickly change and throw on my shoes and make my way towards the door. Alex and her friend are still here.
"Where are you going?" Alex asks.
"Duty calls," I say. "I'll see you tomorrow," I walk out the door holding no more conversation.

I see Kevin as soon as I walked in. He has my only other friend besides Alex. I work with him and he's in a couple of my classes. He's extremely funny and is always making me smile. He wore a flannel which wasn't a surprise. What was a surprise was that he wasn't wearing his glasses."Contacts?" I question taking my bag off from my shoulder while clocking in.
"Yes, I was so excited. I got them this morning. I put them in on the way here," he said causing me to laugh. I start to tie the apron around my waist as he stared at me.
