The Dream

I woke up on a Monday morning, very tired and confused. I was angry when I realized that it was just a dream. A lot of people don't know what I have to go through when I wake up. The first thing I hear every morning is "wake your little shitty ass up!". In my head it sounds muffled, but I hear it so often I know exactly what my mother said. In my house there is not much love. Me and my sister are the only ones who care about each other in the house.

I go to my sister's room, crying. She questions me until I spill. I say "I had a dream last night..."

"No one ever can love me like my dad does!"
"Well I don't give a fuck who loves you! I want you to be a perfect child! No one will know that you like black boys! And Kyla, no one will know that you like girls. Am I clear?"
"Crystal"
The door bell rang, and I run to the door. I see a tiny package on the ground. I pick it up and read "for Juliann C. From the Acceptors" I open up the package and inside is a folded up paper that says:
Hi Juliann. Your mom doesn't accept you for who you are, but we do. From here on out, your mother and stepdad will see you as a white girl who likes black boys. And for your sister, a girl who likes girls. They will be happy. They can not change how they feel unless I say. They will now accept you.

I fold the letter back up and put it in my pocket. I run upstairs and turn the corner and see my mom playing a bored game with Kyla and Kyla's girlfriend. She is happy. Kyla signals me into her room where they are playing. She tells me to sit down and my mom hands me her phone for me to call my crush, Tony, who is black. "Invite him over for dinner" I'm at the point of crying happy tears when he answers the phone, after I hang up I tell my mom, "Tony said he would be right over."

Dinner time comes and I hear a knock on the door. I walk over to the door and open it. For once my mom looks happy to see a black boy standing at the door with a rose in his hand. Tony comes in and kisses me on the cheek. I turn to my mom who is hugging him, smiling. I look at Jim, my stepdad, and he has a grin on his face too, then he shakes Tony's hand. They are finally accepting me.

"Wake your little shitty ass up!" My mom yells. I sit up on my bed and look in the mirror, I see tear stains on my cheeks and my mom's reflection at the door. I run down stairs to the front door and see no package. I fall on the floor crying. "Get up and stop being a baby!"
I hear a bang from behind me. I turn around and see a pan on the floor very close to where I was sitting. I look at my mom and see a pot flying at my head. Then I see black.
