Guardian Angel (Severus Snape adopts Harry fic)

Prologue

"Come with me Liana, Headmaster Dumbledore is waiting."

"Yes father." A petite albino lady answered promptly, quickening her pace to match the tall dark man. She is wearing all black dragonhide combat robes and has a long katana strapped on her back. Hidden in her robes are poison coated daggers and vials of potion to be used during battle situations. They soon reached the stone gargoyle guarding the headmaster's office with their fast pace. "Sherbert Lemon" the man said with a sneer. He couldn't understand the headmaster's fetish with sweets of all kinds. Liana rose an elegant eyebrow at the password 'He is over a hundred years old for goodness sake. I would not be surprised if he suffers from diabetes if the choice of password were any indication.'' she thought sarcastically.

The gargoyle jumped aside, revealing a moving spiral staircase. Both of them glided on to the stair and waited for it to bring them up. Once at the oak door to the headmaster's office, the man reached out to knock on the door. Before his fist can reach it, a jovial voice came from behind the door. "Ah. Come in Severus. Come in and take a sit." Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry said from behind his desk, gesturing to the squishy armchairs in front of his desk.

Severus and Liana stepped pass the threshold and sink into the aforementioned armchairs gracefully. She lean her katana against the arm of her chair and took a look around the room curiously. The circular tower office is filled with wierd metal contraptions and the walls are filled with moving portraits of the previous headmasters and headmistresses of Hogwarts. The portraits are mumbling to each other and Fawkes trilled from his perch at the corner of the headmaster's mahogany desk. The headmaster himself grinned and offered them a tin of lemon drops, "Lemon drops, anyone? Tea?" The two of them shook their heads. The headmaster smiled and popped one of the yellow sweets into his mouth, sucking on it for a while. "I see you have brought a guest Severus and Who, may I ask, is this lovely young lady?"

"Albus, she is my daughter and the guard for Potter I mentioned in the meeting after being found as spy last year, Liana Severin Snape." Albus rose an incredulous eyebrow. "She is still a child Severus you must not be serious!"

"My father is not one that jokes about this Headmaster and I'm fully capable of accomplishing this mission. I assure you." Bristled Liana in soft threatening tone like her father's. "Wait! You said that she is your daughter didn't you Severus? Why do I not know of her?" Albus exclaimed in belated surprise. Severus said with a melancholy look on his face "She was born, raised and trained in Japan and before you ask her mother and I was very much in love with each other... I was visting them all those time when I took my leave."

"'Was' Severus?" Father and daughter gazed forlornly at each other, both their masks dropped for a moment. Liana took a deep breath,"M-Mother died in an accident a few months ago thus I was allowed by the Japanese Minstry to move to England with father..." The twinkle in Albus's eye dimmed," I'm sorry my dears."

"It's alright Albus at least we still have each other." Severus said uncharacteristic tone, eyes dull and far away, as though reminiscing. Albus looked at them with a downcast expression. After a period of awkward silence, He forced a smile,"Anyway what makes you think you can do this young lady." He asked changing the subject. he is successful as Liana glared at the headmaster, her previous forlorn expression dissapeared. "Headmaster. With due respect, I absolutely despise people doubting my abilities. If you must know, in Japan, we learn more then wand-waving and potion making. We are trained in martial arts and weapon handling since the age of 5, the age in which we also start our magical education. I got through my martial arts training and gotten my Mastery on all magical courses at the age of 15, with recommendation into the Academia to be trained as a full fledged assassin. I graduated with flying colours just two years ago, not to brag, but it was way faster than any of my fellow trainees. I was even temporarily hired by the Ministry for some missions until I moved here. I'm currently only 26 years old. Not a common or easy feat I assure you." She then crossed arms across her chest and looked out of the window, disgruntled. Severus chuckled softly and said amusedly,"Indeed my dear and you forget to mention that you are quite a brilliant strategist. She will be a great addition to the order." Albus's eyes widened in shock at the information,"26? And you achieved all that? Not to mention you look just like an 11 year old child!"

"Oh I forgot to mention that I'm a Metamorphmagus, an ability from Mother." She mumbled still disgruntled by the headmaster's words. "I figured that it will be less suspicious to start school with the rest of them. Besides as a student it will easier to get close to Mr Potter and thus protect him which is my mission in the first place."

"It is a good plan but it may not work if you end up in Syltherin, which is where you will probably be sorted in, after all, it's not easy to get past a prejudice so old. "

"Not to worry Headmaster Dumbledore. I will work something out." Liana said with a smirk and a mysterious glint in her blood red eyes. Albus looked at her in disbelieve and suspicion then shut his eyes. "-sigh- Ok then. You will have to come to Hogwarts in the Express on September 1st. However I would suggest that you change the colour of your eyes. It will scare the kids."

Liana looked straight into Albus eyes. "I won't change my eye colour Headmaster. I am an albino thus my eyes will naturally be red. The students will have to get used to it. Hopefully it will help them be less afraid of Tom." She stood up strapping her katana onto her back. "See you on September 1st Headmaster." She bowed and walked out of the room.
