3 days, 9 hours, 5 minutes

I got my timer implanted in my wrist when I was born, just like everyone else. Every morning I check my timer and see the numbers go down, today I'm at the three-day mark, which means I have two days to mentally and physically prepare myself for the day I find my soul mate. This morning I did over a hundred crunches to tighten up my stomach. I've been somewhat preparing for this day, for the last two months, by eating healthy and doing small exercises, but this is the time that I need to step up my game and actually look my best for him ... or her.

"Three days," I say gleefully skipping down the stairs.

"I'm so excited!" My mom said to me. "I remember when my timer said three days," she looks like she's about to have a flashback, "I was so much older than you though, you're only seventeen."

"I know, but the timer never lies," I reminded her.

"I know honey," she said kissing my forehead, "shouldn't you be going, you do have school." I nodded and walked away from my mother and walked out the door and waited at the bus stop.

When I got to school, I looked around the halls at all the other people, I tried to see if I could see the numbers on any of their wrists. I couldn't. The anticipation was killing me. What if someone thought that I was their soul mate when my timer hasn't even run out? What would happen if I found someone who I thought was my soul mate, but their timer hasn't run out yet? What if-

"How long?" Fiona asked, interrupting my train of awful thoughts.

"Three days," I said lifting up my wrist so that she could see my timer for herself.

"I still have to wait another four years," she said pouting.

"Well at least you have time to get your life together before you meet yours," I informed her, " I have to be ready in a couple days."

"Ya, but I don't think I can wait that long," she said, "and what if he has a terrible bald spot or horrific back hair," she said lowering her voice to a whisper.

"Fiona you have nothing to worry about, you'll be fine.

"I guess," she said stopping at my locker. "I'll see you in class."

I got my stuff out of my locker and I made my way to class. Half way there I got a text from my friend Nick,

Nick: How long u got??

Me: Three days! and y is everyone asking me?

Nick: We're just excited 4 u

Me: well how long do you have?

Nick: ...

Me: Nick.

Nick: I got 3 days too

Me: hours?

Nick: 8

Me: same...

Me: minutes?

Nick: not telling. you can't cheat to find out

Nick: we'll just have to wait and see if I'm yours ;)

Me: I got class now ttyl <3

Nick: k bye <3

I was in class now and the anticipation was killing me. What if Nick was my soul mate? What if we were meant to be more than friends? AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!! I can't take it! I can't wait three days to find out if I was meant to be with Nick. I just can't-
