Chapter 4

My mom patted the seat beside her and said, "Sit down, we need to talk." I made my way across my huge room and say down on my tempur-pedic mattress.

"Please enlighten me on why you skipped half the day at school?" she questioned.

"Well I guess right now is a good time to tell you," I said while looking down at my hands in my lap.

"Tell me what sweetheart," she asked concernedly.

"You know how I have a dormant gene? Well obviously the whole pack knows and so does every one at school. And umm they bully me Mom but it gets worse... Some even beat me at lunch. So I ended up just skipping the rest of the day," I said looking very ashamed.

"Why have you never told me or Alpha Jackson?! We need to go report abusive behavior!" She shouted looking very angry.

"No mom please I don't want to stress him out. Plus I kinda met my mate..." I replied timidly. My moms mood changed completely, and before I knew it she was calling my dad into my room. She began running her mouth about everything I had just told her whilst I sat there face palming myself.

I interrupted them by saying, "Are you guys going to let me tell you about him or not?"

They both stopped talking and stared at me intently waiting for me to continue. 'geez my parents act like teens!' I thought to myself. Then, I made a mental note to call Payton and tell her about Jake.

So I began telling them how I was walking in the forest and found him looking for rogues. It was love at first sight for me and I hoped the same for him. I continued to tell them my fascinating story and my predicament with him rejecting me if I tell him the truth.

Jake's POV:

I was right in the middle of telling Chase, my best friend, about the love of my life when my dad sent through the mind link 'rogues are here, get reinforcements and track them down' I replied with a quick yes, alpha.

"My dad said there's rogues here. Go get some recruits to go with us," I demanded Chase.

About ten minutes later me, Chase, and five recruits were sniffing out those blasted rogues in wolf form. All of a sudden one popped out on my left while two more emerged by Chase.

The rogue I was dealing with lunged at my throat, but I easily dodged his attack seeing as he wasn't an experienced fighter. Next thing I know my wolf takes over and I propel my body into his, tackling him to the ground. I managed to get my jaws around his neck only causing enough pain to knock him out. dragging the wolf I just attacked from the scene I sent out a mind link to the reinforcements and Chase 'hey I'm taking this one inside for questioning'

Once I reached the pack's dungeon I told the guards to highly sedate the rogue before I left to tell my father the news.

Lexi's POV:

After I got off the phone with a squealing Payton I decided to go the Alpha about the rogues attacks at the Lockheart pack.

I made way down stairs the the giant double doored room that had on the front |Alpha Jackson|. I knocked three times before his voice boomed, "Come in!"

"Ahh Lexi, what a pleasure. What can I do for you?" he asked with a bright smile on his face. I began to tell him about the Lockheart's pack issues and his smile began to fade. Once I was done he spoke in a very serious manner.

"Right, we need to start packing all pack members so we can be prepared for intruders," the next thing he said shocked me to the core.

"I've dealt with these rogues before, and I hate to say it but those rogues have joined together to form a vicious pack and we need to go to war to stop them." How can he say that so calmly?!

"Thank you Lexi for that news. I'll call a pack meeting first thing in the morning." he stated.

I sat there gaped like a fish... we're going to war?
