We reached the next town and soon found an ominous hotel. Scrounging whatever money we had on us, we surprisingly came up with enough money to pay for one night's stay.
"Have a nice stay.." The man at the front desk said almost as if he was from a horror movie. I shuddered and I could see everyone eyeing him suspiciously. Well, everyone except Ford; he trudged on ahead of everyone else. What could he be hiding? A lot more then we probably know.
"You know, Katrina I could find out for you." Fauna's telepathy seeped its way into my thoughts.
"Not yet. Give him time and maybe we'll find out without rummaging through personal thoughts." I retorted back. I could hear Flora grunt behind Max and I and I apologized. We stopped outside the door of room 24 and Ford unlocked the maroon coloured door and our eyes were brought to a small hotel room with a small, uncomfortable-looking couch, a TV and a tiny bathroom barely big enough for me to fit in (and I'm tiny; 5'4" and 102 lbs).
"We call couch!!" Flora and Fauna said in unison. I sighed and decided to take a spot next to the wall. As soon as I set down, I leaned my back against the dark green wallpaper and the girls turned on the TV as Max sat down next to me and Ford went to the bathroom without closing the door.
"That's lovely." I mumbled sarcastically.
"Shut up. You're just jealous 'cause it's bigger than Lover Boy's."
"Says the one who's so obssessed with dicks that he can only make dick jokes." I retort.
"Whatever you say, small tits." He flushed and zipped his pants. He walked in and sat between the two girls as they began flipping through channels. Suddenly, the news came on.
"Leave it!" Ford impatiently said. Flora tossed the remote on the mustard yellow carpet and we all tuned in, Max wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Today in local town news, yet another young body found dead. Police debuty, Eric Tibule commented that in fact, this body does indeed have the same traits as the others found recently. There seem to have been no markings nor signs of cause of death, leaving everyone involved baffeled. On to our next story..." the room grew silent as we all looked at each other. Then we all turned to Ford.
"What?"
"I don't know Sir Lycan. What do you think?" He rolled his eyes and mumbled something.
"Have you two ever heard of anything like this happening?" I asked Flora and Fauna and they shrugged.
"We don't hear of many human occurances in the river. Our pod normally stays near the floor of the water as to not be seen by everyone." After Flora finished what she was saying, she and Fauna began to dig through Ford's duffelbag.
"Hey!" He tried to take the bag but Fauna just turned and smirked.
"Relax. It's not like we're going to cast a spell and release a demon or anything." She leaned closer to him.
"First, it doesn't work that way and second, there are these objects in there called weapons that are sharp. If you even prick the tip of your finger and a witch or a hunter comes along and wants to kill or torture you, that's their ticket to do it." His voice was oozing with annoyance as they ignored him and continued to rummage through his books and weapons. They opened some leather bound journals and began to skim pages.
"Hey what's this?" Flora handed me a journal and Max read over my shoulder.
"I can't really..read.." Flora told me. I looked at the page it was opened to and began to read out loud.
