"You guys! Get a room." I said to my best friends Kate&Tyler who were making out on the park bench.
"You guys keep reminding me that I am boyfriendless."
"What, you want some of this?"Tyler said making kissy faces at me.
"Ew, no."I replied. And for a second, he looked hurt.
Kate and Tyler have been together since last year. When Kate finally had the guts to confess her feelings to him. And he agreed, just like any other boy with eyes. Kate was gorgeous. Straight, light brown hair with a hint of gold and perfect facial features. But Kate was a dork, just like me. She loved reading and getting good grades. Though, at the same time, silly and fun. Kate and I used to be so close. Until she started dating Tyler. We used to have more things to talk about. BOYS for example. Tyler and I were best friends too, even when they started dating. Things had pretty much stayed the same for us.
Now that Kate's dating Tyler, shes suddenly cares of not only what her boyfriend thinks about, but everyone else too. She sucks up to the popular kids and wants me to suck up too.
One chilly morning, I went to school earlier so I could finish my science project in the library. I was gluing everything on when I suddenly heard ragged breathing, coming from behind the bookshelf. It sounded like a couple making out. It was distracting so I decided to go somewhere where I could work in peace. I got up and glanced towards the book shelf and saw hair that looks just like Kate's. I walked towards the bookshelf they were behind and took a better look. Oh, it was Kate alright. But the blonde haired boy was definitely not Tyler. I gasped quietly and stormed out of the library.
The blonde boy was saw was Jason. Star of the football team and was supposedly dating Diana, the head cheerleader. I was thinking about what I saw the whole day, I decided to pretend I didn't see anything. This was not my relationship to ruin. I couldn't do that to Tyler.
Afterschool I went to meet up with Tyler and Kate at our favourite diner.
"Hey, wheres Kate?" I asked Tyler.
"Oh, she told me that she was busy."
"Do you think that she's been acting kind of weird lately?"I asked.
"No. Let's stop talking about Kate, I feel like you and I haven't talked in ages."
He looked at me with his huge brown eyes and I felt the same feeling I had felt before he and Kate started dating. Yes, I was secretly in love with my best friend's boyfriend. Who, in this case, was my best friend too.
After my conversation with Tyler, I realized how unfair it was for me. Kate was cheating on Tyler. And Tyler who is going to get hurt some way or another was still not mine. So I decided to give Kate a call.
"Hey, it's me."I said.
"Hey! I haven't seen you all day."
"We'll I've seen you. Making out with Jason. Wanna tell me about that?"
After 10 seconds of silence, Kate finally spoke.
"Okay, Erica. It's not what you think."
"Oh really? 'Cause it LOOKED like you were making out with him."
"Well, Tyler has been really distant lately. And he wont tell me why. And I think my feelings for him... Well they've just disappeared."
"You know this is totally unfair to Tyler."
"Please Erica, don't tell Ty. I'll tell him myself. I promise."
"Whatever Kate, goodbye."
Then I hung up the phone and called Tyler.
"Hey, do you want to come over?"
