PIC OF THE CLEARING--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Chapter 10

RECAP:

I had seen this wolf before.

I spun around to face Ross.

“Where did you get this”, I said sharply.

He let out a sigh , his eyes not looking at mine.

“It was painted especially for me”, He said quietly.

My eyes widened. I looked back at the picture then back at Ross.

“It was painted for you”, I repeated.

He nodded, still not meeting my stare.

I took another deep breath.

“Why, was it painted for you”, I asked, knowing I’d regret it.

He didn’t answer.

“Ross? Why was it painted for you?”

Then he looked up.

I gasped.

His eyes were a deep chocolate brown, dark but……….. intelligent.

“It’s a self- portrait”

Jenna’s POV

I recoiled. Breathing in sharply.

It all made sense now. This painting, the eyes, the wolf in the forest and Ross just happening to be there when that man attacked me.

But no, how could it be a self-portrait.

I looked up. His eyes had a pained expression. He reached a hand out and he opened his mouth to speak.

I held my finger up, turning away. My breaths were shaky, my hands trembling. I slowly walked towards the painting. Stopping in front of it.

Its deep brown eyes, colored like my favorite chocolate, gazed down at me. Its mouth turned up in a wolfey grin. I found myself smiling. It was a wolf, yet it was Ross too. I could feel it in my heart. He wasn’t playing, he was serious. My mouth shaped a firm line and my hands clenched as I took in what I’d realized.

Ross was a werewolf.

I spun around. His face was a picture. It was filled with such sadness yet I could still see a glint of hope. I sighed.

“You’re a werewolf”, I said watching his face carefully.

He gave a shaky laugh and raked his hand through his hair.

“Uh Yeah”, he said blushing.

A smile threatened to erupt from my lips. What was it about him blushing that I found so damn cute. I composed myself.

“Prove it”, I said.

He smiled, showing his dimples.

“I suppose I was expecting that”, he said, “alright, but not here”.

And the next thing I knew I was in his arms, bridal style.

My mouth popped open in surprise and he grinned down at me.

“Hold on tight”, he said before leaping out the window.

Yes you heard correct, I said he leaped out the window.

“AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”, I screamed as we flew through the air before landing safely on the ground.

Ross chuckled at my shocked face.
