I walked through the Adrienne's castle , watching the wiry old men cower in fear of their masters. The beautiful spring colors their masters wore may have made it hard to be afraid but the terror in the slaves eyes made it clear that this was NOT a joke. The girls who had been leading me through the long winding halls abruptly stopped, motioning that I should continue without them . I pleaded with my eyes but they had already began moving backward leaving me to walk towards the Adrienne's chambers alone. Me. Christopher Payne.
This was the moment I had waited for since the beginning of the rebellion. My chance to finish this war my gender had started in the beginning of time.
The helmet I wore was beginning to bear down on me uncomfortably but I knew better than to reject the little generosity offered to me. This was much further than most men had come . I stopped in front of the humongous doors afraid of what they concealed.
I turned around taking my final glances at what might very well be the last things I ever saw . Summoning the last ounces of courage hiding in my veins I pushed open the doors ,trying to lift my chin in mock arrogance as I strolled forward with false bravado, my eyes searching for the one I had journeyed so far to see .
My eyes widened as they found hers. She truly was as beautiful as the whispers of those who had had the privilege of laying eyes on her .
Auburn hair that seemed to float around her face like fire framed her beautiful large greenish eyes that seemed to switch colors as she looked down at me scornfully, her delicate face seemed as though it would break if she shifted her facial expression slightly more than the semi smile that seemed to entice and frighten me at the same time . Her voice ,tinkling like the sound of tiny bells asked for my for my name ,I answered immediately fearing what would happen if I so much as faltered .
There she sat in front of me ,the leader of this revolution .
The Adrienne .
