Brenton's POV.
As I was walking down the long curvy road that I had lived on almost all my life, I saw a moving van. 'Who's moving HERE?' I ask myself. I see a girl with dirty blonde hair, curled at the end. She's wearing a white and green shirt and light blue ripped jeans. I was so used to living here I didn't understand why anyone would willingly move here. There's not very much to do around here anyways. To me, that is, because I've lived here since I was four and now I'm thirteen. I kept walking down the street, and I hear an adult voice yell out "Audrey come help me!" and I couldn't help but think 'Audrey. That's a nice name.'
Later in the day, right when mom finished cooking dinner, we heard a knock at the door. "I'll get it!" I yelled. I was also the closest person to the front door because I was setting our long, wooden dining table for the five of us to eat a feast. At my house there's my mother, my father, my eight year old sister, and my seventeen year old brother. We also have two dogs. They're both black dogs with a little bit of white on their bellies. Their names are Blaise and Layla. I walk towards the big, dark brown wooden door and unlock it. When I open the door there is a family of three staring back at me.
My mother came up behind me and "Hello, are you guys the new family?" she asks with a huge smile on her face. Audrey's dad responded "Yes! We love it here already. We were just across the street at the Johnson's house." I responded after that with "Did you meet Andrew? He's my best friend!" After that we invited them in to join us for dinner. We were having Macaroni Casserole with croissants.
"So why did you guys have to move here?" My dad asks, after shaking Mr. Cottrell's hand.
"Brenda, my wife, her parents live out here, in Rockville, and her mom fell very ill. So we packed up and moved here. Oh, also there was a great job opportunity at Loving Hands." Mr. Cottrell responded.
My mom butted in and said "Oh my! I'm sorry about your mom, Brenda. I hope everything is okay."
After that, we all took a seat at our long dining room table, each of us taking a croissant and some Macaroni. I sat next to Audrey, my mom next to Brenda, and my dad across from Mr. Cottrell. We talked about Mr. Cottrell's job, and the people that lived in their house before they did. We were one of the first people to move to this neighborhood, since it was brand new construction when we first moved here. The family that lived in the Cottrell house before them were not very kind people. In fact, they were pretty shady. My mom said they were drug dealers, and I had to act like I didn't know what that is.
When dinner ended the Cottrell's got up and got ready to walk back down to their house. They live about two blocks from us. "Alright crew, time to go. Say goodnight and thank you to Brenton and his family." Mr. Cottrell said. He is a corny man, calling his family 'crew'.
Everyone who was at my house said "goodnight" and had a nice smile on their faces. I'm starting to think that Audrey's family is a little, uh, weird. "Night." I responded in a low voice.
"Hey, will you walk with me to the bus stop in the morning? Tomorrow is my first day." Audrey says, while I stare relentlessly into her bright blue eyes.
"Of course. Do you want me to walk you to your classes?" I hesitated for a moment, and then continued with "So that you can get to know your way around, without being late to class of course."
"That'd be great! See you tomorrow." She said. I closed the big wooden door behind them and ran to my room. "Why didn't I get her number?" I ask myself after shutting my bedroom door.
