It was 1:30 and I had been walking for about half an hour. The woods behind the Ravscens' house were dense, but after a while they opened up to a clearing that was about half a mile outside of the Ravscen property. The clearing was full of wildflowers and there was a weeping willow tree by the center of the clearing. In the shade of the old willow was a stone and cast iron bench with a design of what looked like faeries with swirls and flowers around them. When Demetri and I were younger, we would walk up here and hang out in the clearing and sit on the bench, and look up at the sun dancing inbetween the droopy leaves of the tree. We had stopped coming up here together when we eached seventh grade, but I had always kept coming whenever I needed to be alone or just needed to think. It was the perfect place for curing writer's block.

I walked over to the bench and sat down. It was a cloudy and dark day so the stone and iron were ice cold, but I didn't mind. I'm one of those people who love the cold. I kicked off my flip flops and pulled my knees into my chest. I gazed out at the field of flowers. I remembered how Demetri and I would lie in the field, surrounded by flowers, and look up at the clouds in the sky and figure out what the looked like. That was back when we were younger. Back when there was no drama, and life was so simple. Back when I had parents... I remembered all the good times from my early childhood, and how much fun I had with my parents and Chris. A single tear escaped my left eye, and, as soon as I wiped it away, another one fell. More tears came, a surprising amount actually. I was silently crying into my fabric-clad arms, which were propped up on my knees, when I heard a rustling coming from the woods behind me. I figured it to be an animal so I waved it off, but then I heard it again, and it sounded louder and closer than before. It sounded too large to be a small, non-threatening animal. The rustling wasn't coming from the part of the forest by Demetri's house, so I knew it wasn't him.

"Who's there?" I called towards the part of the forest where the noise was coming from. I heard the rustling, and I called out again. I saw a dark figure coming out of the forest. My eyes grew wide and confusion crossed my face.
