"Im Lily." I say still staring into his eyes.

"Im David." He says pushing his hands through his tight jeans and into his pockets.

"Listen Lil, can I call you that?" I spy a girl getting up from the same booth as David did.

"Yea." I say brushing a piece of hair behind my ear. I feel my phone vibrate.

"I know we just met and all but do you maybe want to g-"

"Yes." I hesitate.

"I didnt even ask you anything yet..." He says pushing his eyebrows together. She starts walking towards us.

"Sorry. What were you gunna say?" I demand in hopes of him asking what i want him to more than anything.

"I was gunna ask if you wanted to go on a-" The blonde haired woman from his table jumps out from behind him.

"Hey Dave we miss you back at the booth." She says chewing gum louder than my mother.

I get the feeling he is gunna leave me for her. I feel my feet sink into the ground, paralyzed.

"One minute Shelly i was just gunna ask Lily if she wanted to go for a coffee or something, with me." He says pushing her away.

"Yes." I say, reassuring myself he feels the same way about me as I do him.

"I mean- yea sure ill go get a coffee or something with you." I smile and he does back. I feel my phone vibrate again.

"DAVE! Back to the table our food just got there!" She yells pulling him away from me and our conversation.

"Call me!" I yell. Jen comes up from behind me and puts her hand on my shoulder.

"How is he gunna call you if he doesnt have your number?" Jen startles me and my smiles fades away.

"Ill give him it before he leaves?" I say.

"Sure." Jen agrees.

"Ill give him it before he leaves." I say with a smirk on my face. Lily looks at me and shrugs her shoulders and walks toward the counter. I follow.

"What are you getting?" I whisper.

"Maybe a lemonade? I dont want yogurt." She says.

"How can you not like yogurt?" I exaggerate in disbelieve.

"It just doesnt do it for me." She smiles.

"Hi how can I help you?" The woman exclaims from behind the counter. She is wearing a pink and purple uniform with white Yogurties with her dark brown hair seeping out of the back.

"How much is a small lemonade?" Jen asks.

"Well a small is $1.89 and a small strawberry lemonade is $2.09. You might as well get a large its only $3 for either." She says with a smile.

"Ok sure give me either." Jen says back.

"How about you?" She asks looking in my direction.

"Um... Ill take a medium low fat vanilla with strawberries please." I say looking closely at the workers face- she looks familiar but from where? I ask myself.

"Yes you can." She says.

"Your total will be $5.81."she says grabbing our receipt from the register in front of her.

I pull my wallet out of my purse and open it. I spot $10 and reach for it. Hen puts her hand over mine.

"Its ok i got it." He says with a smile paying the lady.

"No the only reason we're here is because of me." I demand.

"Lil you invited me today. Thank you for that. The least i can do is pay $6 for our snacks." I put the money back in my wallet and close it putting it back in my purse. My phone vibrates.

"Heres your lemonade and yogurt." The lady says giving us what we ordered.

"Thank you." I say grabbing my yogurt and giving Jen her lemonade.

"Lets go sit." Jen says. We find a both close to the entrance and take a seat her on the opposite end than me. I grab a pen from my purse and write my number on a napkin for when I give it to David. I try my yogurt.

"This actually isnt that bad!" I exclaim digging my spoon in for more looking around if Dave might be watching.

"The lemonade isnt bad either." Jen mutters.

I see movement at Dave's table and spring up. I see Jen glance at me out of the corner of my eye. I walk towards him loosing the feeling of being on land- floating towards him clenching the napkin in my hand.

I tap him in the shoulder.

"Hey." He mutters looking me in the eyes. I push the napkin towards him and he grabs it.

"Thanks. Ill text you later and we'll talk about that date." He says with his perfect voice putting the number in his pocket.

"Cant wait." I work up the nerves to say. I go in for a hug even though wejust met more than half an hour ago, it just felt right.

I put my arms around his neck and his around my lower back touching my hip. I feel his hard stomach against mine and our hearts beating side by side. I pull away slowly looking in his eyes. He leans in- so do I. I close my eyes.

"Dave! Come on!" Shelly yells and I pull away. What were you thinking! I tell myself thinking about what I have just done- offered to kiss a stranger. What the- but it would have been perfect. I play both sides.

Shelly stares at us. David pulls away.

"I should be going." He says staring at Shelly.

"But i'll call." He smiles and turns around and walks towards the door with shelly. The door opens.

"Ok. Ill be waiting for your call!" I yell after him.

He turns around and waves at me as the door closes- still smiling. I stand there feeling content with myself processing what just happened.

I bite my lip, thinking about what would have happened before she interrupted. I spy Jen staring at me with her half finished lemonade in hand. I walk back over to her and stand with my hands on the table.

"What was that about?" She asks.

"Well I had to give him my number didn't I?" I sit down. My phone vibrates again.

"I didnt mean that i ment that really really really long hug. You know what i mean?" She laughs.

"Oh sh" I say slapping her shoulder. I take my phone out of my pocket wondering who's been texting me.

I take it out and John's name pops up. I see his latest text and panic. I jump up and tears fill my eyes. In denial, I hesitate to unlock my phone and open our conversation. I read again his text and let out a cry loud enough the whole shop hears.

I throw my phone in Jen's lemonade, pick up the glass and slam it on the floor. Jen jumps up.

"What the hell Lily are you insane?!" She yells staring at me expecting and answer.

I look down at the floor covered in lemonade and glass shards- everyone watching me. I'm a monster, I tell myself. I step on my phone grinding it into the ground watching it break into pieces.

I look around and feel like terrible. The way everyone stares at me without looking directly into my eyes. I grab my purse and storm out- not looking back.
