Chapter one: Dance Star

I was lying on my bed just worrying about how my dance competition would go today. I needed to straighten my hair, apply some make-up and choose a dancing outfit to go with my song Bang a Drum by Selena Gomez. I hop up and open my blinds and getting a shock of the bright light smacking me in the eyes. I turned my face away, shutting my eyes so fast. I froze for a moment wondering what to do first. I opened my right eye and looked in my mirror to see my hair straightener on the other side of my bed room. I sprint across the room so fast that when my feet hit the ground there was a massive thump.

I plugged the cord in and waited for it to heat up.

Honey, come down stairs when you finish straightening your hair, and your father has a present for you, said my mum Paris in a very high pitched voice. It was that high she could have past for an opera singer.

I was practicing the dance in my head over and over again. I cannot fail, this is the most important dance competition in the year; I am in the running to be the next girl Olympics dancer.

By this stage, after thinking about all of that. I had finished my hair. I went down stairs and walked into the kitchen knowing that is where I would find my mum. I sat in the high chair next to the breakfast bench and mum came around the back of me and started braiding my side fringe and leaving the rest of my hair out.

Honey, I bought you this outfit for your dance, I want you to wear it with pride, and she sounded like she was nearly crying.

I turned my head up to where hers was to see where she was looking. She was looking at a purple box on the bench next to me, which I didn’t even notice.

She finished my hair so I opened the box and there was a plain white mini-skirt, a black laced shirt and a side hat with a white rose on it.

I took the box with the clothes in it upstairs and put the clothes on. I put on black underwear to match my outfit. I stood in front of my mirror and just started staring at myself. I looked beautiful; I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. Everyone did say I was the hottest girl at school but I didn’t let that get into my brain until now. My perfect brown hair, no pimples. I looked like and angel that fell out of heaven and so did my mum. Well I know where I got my beauty from.

I heard a knock on my door; I didn’t want to go to the door, not now anyway. I stayed where I was standing and the door opened slowly.

Paris, I mean your mother wanted me to give you these shoes for your dance, said this guy that mum got to keep the garden looking nice, his name was Harley, he was my age and yes he was hot.

I looked at the shoes without making a sound; they were black high heels with real diamond souls and pearls near where my toes were.

Thank you, I said in a quiet but sweet voice. I took the shoes of him and sat on my bed to put them on, he was still standing there watching me. I looked up at him and gave him a look that meant what the hell are you doing, I just didn’t want to say it.

Oh sorry miss, I will be leaving and may I say you look beautiful today.

He nodded his head once and turned away from me and walked out of my room, fast. I put my last shoe on and giggled, I couldn’t help myself.

The door bell rung and I ran down stairs because I was taking a few of my friends to watch me.

I stopped and fixed up my hair and opened the door. It was Hannah my best friend in the whole wide world, Jennifer my main dancing friend, Regina my  school friend and Zoe my neighbour.

Come in girls, I said. They could probably tell I was nervous but who cares I have a right to be.

Bye mum, bye dad, I screamed across the house. There was no answer, but I didn’t have time to wait, I had to catch the bus to Sydney and go to the Opera House to perform.  All my friends helped themselves out of my house and I shut the door behind me and we walked up to the bus stop that was just up the street.
