I pulled back another arrow, my heart racing at the sight of danger. My heart kept beating and beating, feeling like drums in my ears. My movements started to become shaky, off balance from the momentum of the danger that kept escalating from here on. I tried to aim at the head of the Shrieker, one eye close to getting a better aim. I took in deep breaths trying to calm my racing heartbeat, but no matter what I did it couldn't be helped. My heart would not stop beating, I knew if I took this shot, I would only miss, at this rate all of my shots will miss and then I will be in a world of hurt.
I lower my bow, glancing at my surroundings. The undead crowded the ground, moaning and scratching the walls for those that can not climb while the runners, on the other hand, could climb just fine. The runners are quick on their feet but are still dumb like all the other ones. One false move I am toast, the only thing I can do, gets the hell out of here before I seriously get cornered.
I turned my back on the horde and I started to ran in the direction where the little girl ran to. I heard the shrieker giving out a bit shriek, the voice carrying along the skies, bouncing off each other, calling for others I would have to avoid. I jumped to the next building just barely missing one of the runners that tried to leap towards me. The runner hand brush against my foot, going straight down to the ground falling on top of clumsy undead. I buckled my knees and once I landed on the new platform, I rolled in order to brace my fall.
I wince a little from the jab of pain I felt from my ankle. I made the mistake to glance back over my shoulder and I became instantly frozen with fear. The shrieker stood on top of the roof I jump from, the shrieker acted and stood like he ruled over everything. The shrieker pop his chest out, tilting his head back like he is about to let out another shriek. The shrieker opens his mouth wide, his black tongue came out licking over his decaying lips. His tongue lick his decaying lips and it slithered back inside his mouth, then he let out one horrible shriek. This shriek is not high pitch like his other ones, but it is low and menacing, making a shiver run down my spine. The shriek is not a normal shriek, it's a war cry.
Runners jump over the shrieker and around the shrieker like an endless wave. Everything seems like it stood still, my fear made it impossible for me to move in this circumstance. I tried to force my fear down, way down so I can move, so I can run for my life. I refuse to die here and now but this might be my fate if I can't will my body to move. "Move, move, move, move, move, MOVE DAMN IT!" I kept chanting inside my head watching the endless wave take place. No matter how much I chant, my body still refuse to move. I thought this was how I was going to die, I almost accepted my fate, but then a thought occurred to me that made me move my body. I should embrace the fear, fear is what should make me run...
With that thought stuck in my head, I turned my back on the undead and I ran like hell. "Fear is something that shouldn't immobilize you, Fear should make you run! Not stay!" I force myself to the other end of the building blocking out the sounds of the shrieker and the moaning of the undead, running like I have not run before. My brain went blank, except the words I kept chanting to myself, words the force me to run.
There are no more buildings to jump to, the only thing that I could do is jump to the ground and hopefully run straight through the fence without a problem, but since my brain could not work currently, I did the next best thing. I pushed off from the building, ignoring the pain of my ankles jumping as high as I can, in order to jump over the fence that blocks my way to freedom. I shockingly made the jump, but I manage to get injured in the process.
I am not the only one that jumps over the fence, a few of the runners from the wave jump along with me since they were the closest, but they ended up not making the jump. I ended up rolling to brace for the impact but that ended up not being enough. I heard a crack from my ankle once my feet came in contact with the ground, sending me into a couple of rolls from the impact, scrapping my knees from the cement, my right ankle throbbing in pain. My head came crashing down along with the cement, my hand instantly cover my head out of reflex, sending a massive headache.
