ADANA JACKSON

     Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.

My eyes slowly open. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw that it was only two in the morning. Who could be walking outside at this time of the day? I know New Rome is a peaceful place, wherein demigods sometimes walk early in the morning. But not at this time of the day.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes, still feeling sleepy. I hear another few crunches of shoes walking on leaves. Maybe it's brother who's walking outside. I looked at my right side, and that's where I saw Alexander under the sheets of his bed, snoring loudly, possibly drooling. Mom did say he was a lot like dad.

But wait, if that's Alexander... Who could be walking this close to our house? I'm absolutely one hundred percent sure that whoever it is isn't a passerby. If I was woken up by mere footsteps, then that person must have been walking around and around our house. Or maybe I just need a glass of milk.

I tiptoed pass my annoying brother, out the door, and down the stairs. The house was creepy, just a bit. I searched for the light switch, but I couldn't find it. I felt the wall, looking for it, when my hand came in contact with a hand. A hand? I move my hand around to check if there was somebody there or not. The hand had magically disappeared.

OK. Weird. Maybe I was just hallucinating due to lack of sleep. I finally found the switch and turned the lights on. I opened the fridge and looked for the chocolate milk carton. If my mom caught me doing this again, I'm doomed. (Well, I've only gotten downstairs a couple of times to have a midnight snack. Okay, maybe a little more than that.)

After drinking my milk, I walked back upstairs. Oh no! I forgot to wash the mug! If there is ever anything I learned from midnight snacking, it is to leave no traces behind. Dad's cool with it though. If he finds out about me snacking again, it'll be fine. But I'm not risking it. Mom might find out. I turned on the faucet and washed my mug, singing a song. I went back up stairs and into my room.

I walked over to my art station and took out a marker. Just for fun... I went to Al, and even though I know he's going to be furios, I gently started drawing pink flowers on his face. Then, I looked for my headband. When I found it lying on top of the desk, I slowly and carefully placed the blue hair band onto Al.

If I wasn't covering my mouth, I would have been heard laughing like an insane person. I grabbed my phone and took a picture of Al. Oh, I can't wait to show Caitlyn this...

The footsteps were gone, so I decided to go back to bed. I still couldn't go back to sleep. I felt... like I was being watched. Like someone was watching me from the window. Later, the lights went on. Oh no! Maybe Alexander already woke up! He's gonna check the mirror, because his face itches everytime it is marked with a marker. I waited, but I could not even hear him walking around. Wait, I didn't even hear him getting out of bed, or even yawn.

He's trying to be clever. I just won't look so it will look as if I was still asleep and he wouldn't blame me for his new design. I stayed quiet and slowed down my breathing, a trick that I always do when I try to fool someone by sleeping. This time, I could finally hear footsteps. Al was going to get me! What do I do? Maybe I should just keep on pretending.

But the hand that covered my mouth wasn't anything like the one Alexander has.

Yo! This chapter was done by yours truly, Liandreena. How was it? Next chapter will be Alexander's doing. Oh and by the way, this chapter is a bit short, and it is a bit like a prolouge. Hope you like it though. The next chapters I will be writing will be longer. In our website, there will be no author's note. Except maybe in the ending. Okay, that sounded a bit weird. I dunno why.

Liandreena, signing out~⭐
