Fun Fact #181: When a person cries and the first drops of tears come from the right eye, its happiness. If it's from the left, it's pain.
Her velvet soft hair stuck to her wet face and her once soft brown eyes where now dark but surrounded by red; tears threatened to spill over the rims of her eyes. My little sister Trisha who was 18 now was in my room hugging me tightly. Tears rolled down her plump red cheeks and onto my shirt. She sniffed and blew out hot puffs of air, trying to catch her breath. Trina, who was 18 as well, was at the end of my bed playing with her stubby nails while trying not to cry to hard. I rubbed my sister's arm gently and kissed her hot head, "Shh...its ok Trish, I got you." I said trying to calm her down. Trina lay down next to Trisha placing her head on the same blue pillow Trisha's head was on. Trina wrapped her small arms around Trisha's waist and gave her a hug.
Trisha was in small terms, the weakest, of us (Me, Trina and herself). She would always cry over the smallest things. Yes it was annoying, but she's our sister and we have to love her for her. Trina and I have always been her body guards, even in elementary school. For example; one day at lunch Trisha was buying lunch in the lunch line. Trina was in Trisha's grade but I was in one grade higher because of my age. But our school was a bit different from others; two grades would share the same lunch period so I was in my sisters lunch period. Anyway, a couple of these girls hated Trisha and loved to torture her during school. One day when Trish had bought her lunch and was coming over to our table these girls cornered her and spilled her lunch over her while calling her names. Trina and I saw this and rushed over to our sister. We both took the girls high ponytails in our hands and yanked them back into the "Today's Special" table which held today's mystery meat. The girls where covered in mystery meat and stormed out of the lunch room while gaining plenty of laughs from our peers.
We can't say we don't mind protecting Trish. We love our sister but sometimes she just has to stand up for herself. But on this occasion Trina and I couldn't do much to protect her. Our parents where downstairs arguing again. They don't fight very often, but when they do it is usually about Trish. See, Trish isn't the 'smartest' when it comes to hard situations; saying this means she gets into a lot of trouble. Today she was caught trying to sneak out again and our mother caught her and pulled her through the window and smacked her head with her fist. Our mother is only abusive towards Trish. Trina and I have both tried to get in the middle of them and take the hits for Trish. But our mother simply pushed us away, shot us a smile, and turned back to Trish who was crying on the floor.
Trish has a welt on her forehead now from trying to sneak out. Mother and father where downstairs fighting about Trish.
"She's ignorant and is going to get herself killed one day and I will tell you I told you so!" I heard my mother shout from down stairs. I covered my sister's ears with my hands and shut my eyes tight. I hated when they fought. They scared my sisters and didn't care. They would yell at them and me when we misbehaved or if we used incorrect grammar. I ignored their nasty comments about me but stepped in when they insulted my sisters. I would usually gain a smack from my father. Father hits me and Trina but Mother hits Trisha and only Trisha. She claims she has a better grip on Trisha then me and Trina.
I sighed and stood from my bed, shutting my door and locking it, turning on my music from the radio and closed my curtains. I pulled the blankets up; covering my sisters then lied down next to Trisha and closed my eyes. Their breathing was light and their eyes where shut. I saw a spare tear run down Trisha's cheek. I took my thumb and gently rubbed it away and kissed her forehead.
I wish I could tell my sisters that everything will be okay. But I cant say that because I don't know...
