I flinched as the hot liquid flowed over my chapped lips. I could feel the trail of the sweet drink as it slowly traveled down my throat, warming my entire chest. I struggled to keep my eyes from staying shut, forcing them to open again after every blink. A deep, but scratchy voice brought my attention back. "Meditating, Mr.Grayson?" I could feel the heat running up to my face. I felt my cheeks start to turn red, and quickly focused my attention down at my cluttered desk, hoping she couldn't tell. "No mam'. I'm sorry Emme. It... It won't happen again.", I quickly stuttered. "Good.", she said, curling her lips into a slight playful smile. "I've got a case for you." My eyes immediately looked up and locked with hers. She was a very beautiful woman. She was so young, it was hard to believe she was my boss. She looked as though she would still be in college. Her icy blue eyes seemed to draw me in. So mysterious, making you constantly wonder what she was thinking. Her silky blonde hair ran all the way down to her waist, making her tan skin pop against the bright blonde strands. "What's the case?" I sputtered out, my eyes wandering back up to her face, slowly following every curve of her body with my eyes on my way up. "Hm.. Says here it's about an abduction. 17 year old girl went missing from her house in Whispering Oaks. Um... Ash Garrettson" She said, flipping through the unorganized papers in the cases file, being careful as though not to let any papers fall out. "You up for it?" "Of course." I said, extending my hand to grab the file. She handed me the file, and shook my hand. Her hands were so soft and warm, part of me didn't want to let go. "Good. I'm proud of your work on your last case Mr. Grayson" my last case.. My last case... I let my eyes wander to look at the floor as I tried to remember my last case. "Oh right..." I spit out. My last case. The murder of 21 year old Savannah Langston. "Thanks.." I mumbled as she walked away. Her heels clicking with every step, so rhythmic, perfectly in sync with my heartbeat. The smell of coffee brought my attention back to the office, my eyes shifting towards the coffee maker. As I slowly made my way over to the coffee maker, all I could think of was Emme. Oh how badly I wanted to make her proud of me. How badly I wanted her to notice me. I didn't want to disappoint her. I wasn't, going to disappoint her. I was going to solve this case, even if it was the last thing I did.
