I looked at my door where the other alpha left, and I could still somewhat smell it. It smelled like vanilla and sugar, but it also smelled like strawberries. My mate lived in the other alpha's pack. How I knew was because scents travel with people as they go. Everyone has their own scent but they also sometimes carry the scent of others. It happens, but someone can never really tell until they catch hints of their mate.

I was deep in thought, until my beta was waving his hand in front of my face. I didn't realize he was already back from his patrol.

"Are you okay?" he asked concerned.

"Yeah. I'm just tired," I replied.

"I bet. You and Carlee were going at it late last night. I'm glad that everyone is farther away from your room than I am."

"Is it that bad?" I asked him.

He gave me a look and replied, "It sounds like live porn. I think the pups can live without that."

"Sorry, man," I told him.

"No big deal. Just keep it down next time, okay?"

"Yeah. Will do. Actually, I think I'm going to stop seeing her," I admitted.

"Why would you do that man? She help you relieve your wolf's stress."

He was right. Male wolves had very horny wolves.  Like to the point that by the time many turn sixteen they have already lost their virginity. This means the ones that saves themselves for their mates are treasured.

That's why I was nervous to meet mine.

Sorry, my wolf, Axel, told me in my head.

It's okay. I just hope she doesn't reject us, I replied, which caused him to whine in my head.

When I meet her, she would have been the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I knew I would do anything for her, and that I would change anything for her.

"So," he started. "How are you going to break the news to Carlee."

I nervously pushed my hand through my hair and responded, "Your guess is as good as mine. She thinks she is already is Luna, and I don't know how much longer I can go with her talking about what flowers are going to be in our wedding."

Blake did something that I knew was coming. "S-she... h-h-has been... p-planning a wedding."

"Yes..." I groaned. "It's unbearable."

"Hey, you're the one that choose to stay with the girl you were sleeping with. I told you. My method of 'hit it and quit it' works brilliantly."

"Whatever, man. I have a crap load of work to get done before we go to school tomorrow, and I know you do, too," I told him.

"Aye aye, captain," he jokes and salutes to me.

"Yeah, yeah. Go get it done."

He waved it off. Although I was tough on him in front of others, we both joked around with each other in private. We agreed that I needed to be the alpha in public and only our mates would know the truth of our relationship.

When he left, I put my head into my hands. I thought of all the bad things that had happened to me. All of the times I could tell that the moon goddess was testing my strength, and now I just hoped that my mate would be a gift instead of a test of my sanity.

The next day, I went into my office and looked around. Stacks of work were piled onto my desk and I knew I had too much work to do for such a short period of time. Contracts, bills, and treaties were laying there waiting to be filled out, and I knew that I needed to do them that day. So, I decided that I needed to stay home.

After the day started, I got a mindlink from Blake. 'Dude, you wouldn't believe the hotties from this new pack.'

'Oh, really.' I linked back. 'Have you met the daughter, yet?'

'Yes, and she is smoking hot. She is like nothing I have ever seen before. She's in our first period.'

'Okay. I'll talk to you soon,' I told him.

The mindlink shut off, but a question kept replaying in my mind.

What if the daughter was the scent I smelt?
