"Eat your breakfast, it'll get cold..." My mother pleaded as she walked into the other room.
I scarfed down my eggs, even though they were in fact a bit cold.
"Isn't today your party for work?" I slurp down my milk and grab my bag.
"Because I seen your decorations on the steps..." I complained. All her fancy stuff fell onto my coat and school work leading up to the second floor of our house.
"Yes, thank you for reminding me. Now go brush your hair!" She yelled from the laundry room.
I grab my brush from my room and head to my sink. I kinda enjoyed looking in the mirror as I brush my hair.  I look into the mirror to only see myself brushing my brown hair, and my wide green eyes staring back at me. My freckles dot around my nose and cheeks which engulf my round face. I finish brushing my hair and brush my teeth.  I run to grab my coat and my bag to head to Louise's house.

It only took me two minutes to reach Louise's house. They rush out the door holding a piece of a half eaten bagel in their hand and nearly trip on the steps leading to their house and meet me in the sidewalk.
"How was your weekend?" I say, as I tuck my hands into my pockets to keep out the cold autumn air.
"Pretty lovely, my grandma came over and we went shoe shopping." Louis mumbled as they had taken a bite of the bagel.
"Oh that's nice! What store did you go too?" I asked.
"Mm, well I didn't go but I think my mom said something about her and my grandma going to the mall... My brother wanted some new Jordan's so he went too." They said taking another bite of the bagel and putting the leftover napkin in their pocket.
"Interesting..." I said. It really wasn't but I don't want to seem un-interested. Thad be rude in my case...
Around that time we passed the tree.
The tree is this huge oak tree that has two fox burrows on each side. One of the foxes was running around looking for food in the quiet neighbor hood. Looked as if he'd found a little orange peel.
"Isn't it strange how he still eats the peel?" Louis curiously asks.
"What do you mean he?" I ask. "How do you know if it isn't a boy, and is in fact a girl?" I ask, Louis widens their eyes.
"I never thought of it like that. Say, what about that duck we saw that had the green head?" They ask curiously.
The ducks in the pond next to The Tree  was filled with mama ducks looking for food as the whisper of winter brought out their senses. You could almost see a nest at the end of the pond, a blotch of white was in it, obviously late eggs. Sadly, they might die before they hatch.
"Well, since it was green, it must be a male duck. And if it was all brown, it would be female." I said, sounding more smart then I was.
"Well, let's say, the duck wanted to be a girl, if it had the green head." They said.
"Well they can't! Their a duck. But if the duck was a human perhaps if it had surgery and everyone accepted the duck, yes. Maybe it could genetically be a girl. But anyone can be a girl, a boy, or both if they want." I said.
"Well...don't be weird about this... But..." Louis paused.
"I want to be a girl..."
We both starred at each other. His blue eyes looked like ice and his hair as if a carrot was orange in the frigid air.
I simply replied with an "okay" and we kept walking in silence.

We continued walking to school which was maybe a mile away so not too far. The incident that had occurred passed by, him being more effected then it by me. I have no trouble with someone wanting to be the opposite gender. What 14 year old should? Personally I find it offensive even though I'm straight.
As soon as we walk into the building, the bell rings. And the whole school scurries to their lockers.
