This is an idea I've had in mind for a while, and since the Mega Man content on this site is still quite lacking (though not as much as Quizilla), I thought what a better way to fix that with a story of my own.

Anyway, it's in second-person POV and probably not the best cause that's not really my strong suit. But I tried my best and that's all that counts, right?

Now onto the disclaimer.

Mega Man X and all its characters are owned by Capcom and Keiji Inafune (how I miss him so). I obviously don't own you-the reader, but all original concepts pertaining to you are mine.

The thick smoke burned your eyes, tears brimming at their corners. Amongst the chaos it was difficult to see anything. Heck you didn't even know what was happening around you as your body went on auto-pilot with only one objective in mind: run away.

Everything happened so fast; one moment you were in your room trying to pass the time-the next a deafening explosion destroyed your reality, in more ways than one.

Using a free hand and whatever bit of strength you had left, you felt your surroundings, the cool touch of now scrap metal sending shivers throughout your trembling body.

In spite of your impaired eyesight, you knew for a fact that this was the way out.

As you trekked further through the once narrow hallway of your home, trying your best not to trip over any debris- the dust rapidly cleared. As you reached the ruined doorway, your heart raced with great anticipation.

An inaudible gasp resonated from the back of your throat, a look of horror crossing your features.

Your vision had no time to adjust as they widened at the spectacle before you; all along the decimated sidewalk, flames engulfed area, the ongoing carnage far from over.

You wanted so badly to cry- scream even, but nothing but a hoarse whimper came out. Returning your mind to the current situation at hand, you only focused on getting as far away as possible from the reality that you wished was just a horrific nightmare.

Frantically, your eyes skipped about the surrounding area, desperately searching for a way to escape or at least a place to hide until someone, that was preferably human-found you.

It was then that you caught sight of your salvation: a lone, untouched tree across the demolished street. Though a slight relief washed over you, your body began to violently quake. If you didn't make it, you were sure you would no longer be alive.

Drawing a deep breath, you did a double take, making certain that the perpetrators were out of sight.

'Good, they're not here', you mentally take note.

Gripping tightly to the handle of the metal briefcase, you made a mad dash for the tree.
You were going so fast that you didn't think it was possible for you to even move at such speed. Must have been a case of an adrenaline rush, you thought wryly.

But just as you thought you were home free, your foot got caught under a stray steel beam, hurtling your body some few feet.

The trip was so sudden and given the pace that you were going at, your instincts barely had time to react and so you hit the ground face first, the impact scrapping your hands and knees*. The briefcase which you were holding fell a good couple of centimeters from your prone body.

Groaning in pain, you attempted to get back on your feet until a large, bulky shadow loomed over you.

It was one of them, the ones who took everything from you, and the beings that caused all of this chaos in the first place.
