New life, new love

Crunch time!(UNEDITED)

"Mom? I'm home!" I yell walking into my new house,

No answer. The house is completely silent, "Yes!' I shout and then walk to the kitchen to get something to eat. I see a note on the counter and pick it up.

Ariana,

I'm going to have to stay at work late. Kelsey and Mike have gone to auntie jenny's and will stay there until I pick them up. There is twenty dollars on the kitchen table for supper, order what you want.

Walking to the fridge I grab my phone from the back pocket of my jeans and see a text. Hey is all it says. Its a number that I don't recognize, so I don't answer. A few moments later I get a second text. Its Jake from school, this text says.

"Oh."I say finally connecting the dots.

Before he can text back I create a contact.

Jake😋

*nm, just thinking about tomorrow 😐*

*Whats the 😐 About?*

*idk, I guess I'm just nervous. I only have one friend and I don't think I'll make anymore.*

*Thats not true, you know I'm going to introduce you to my friends, right?*

*whatever you say jake*

*i am and they will love you, anyways I'm going to the indoor rink. Wanna come?*

*Sure, meet me there?*

*Definetley* he texts and I smile,

*Be there in half hour* I text him and put my phone down,

I walk up to my room and go through one of my boxes to find my skates, once I find them I throw them in my extra school bag and Rip off my shorts I put on a pair of simple blue jeans and run back downstairs.

I grab a granola bar and shove into my mouth, I then put on my blue and grey sneakers and grab my phone, bag with my skates and another granola bar. I walk outside and walk to the arena.

"There you are." Jake says with a smile when he sees me walk into the lobby of the arena,

"Here I am." I reply,

"Ready?" He asks me,

"Yep, but just saying, you're going to have to teach me how to skate." I warn him,

"You don't know how to skate?" He asks me shocked,

"I grew up in Florida, we didn't have ice." I laugh,

"Then I guess I'll have to teach you." He says and we walk into the rink.

We walk to the bench which hockey teams sit on when they play and we sit. Jake takes less than 10 minutes. How the hell did he do that so fast?

"Need help?" He asks,

"Yes." I say, I only put on my skates I have no idea how to tie them. He ties them asking if they're to tight with each foot and then we stand up. We take off our guards and he leads me onto the ice. He steps on the ice first and spins around, he extends his arm and I hesitantly grab it.

"Scared?" He asks me, skating backwards pulling me with him,

"A little" I laugh,

"Don't be." He says and starts to skate faster,

He drags me around the ice rink a few times and then stops when he hits the fourth time around.

"Now you try."

"Ok." I say biting my lip, I let go of his hand and slowly and cautiously make my way once around the rink with Jake following behind me. I'm going to fall. Will it hurt? Of course it will hurt. Oh my god, I can't fall because Jake will laugh at me.

"Perfect, now try to spin." He tells me,

"Ha! Nice try." I say,

"What's wrong?" He asks "scared?"

"No." I defend myself,

He grabs my wrist and twirls me closer to him, he starts to spin making me spin as well. This is actually fun, I laugh.

"What's so funny?" Jake asks me,

"Oh nothing." I reply

"Liar." He says and pulls me closer to him, our faces are centimetres apart, I smell his minty breath and can see the flakes of brown in his eyes, he inches his face closer to mine and goes in to kiss me.

"Murdoch!" Someone yells interrupting our moment.

We pull apart and turn to see who is calling for Jake. "Hey, Joe! My man! How's it going?"

"Great man, who's the girl?" The guy asks curious,

"Oh right, Joe thabet, this is Ariana Peterson. Ariana Peterson, this is Joe Thabet."

"Hi." I say and we extend are arms and shake hands,
