The sun shining on my skin, the wind blowing through the trees, birds sing a melody. I hate mornings. As I wake up, I get out of my hard bed, stretching my aching back, I grab my phone blindly failing many times, I finally pick up my phone only to say hello like someone was in the other end of the screen. The phone buzzes, making me jump and drop my phone.
My phone was never actually on....
The screen light up only for it to say,
ADAMS
And I picked it up after looking over the side of my bed, like a kid would look to see if it was a monster.
But Adams wasn't any monster. More like, my best friend.
I slide the answer button open and finally answered.
"Hello?"
"Hey Niomi!" Adam screams in the phone.
"Adam I'm still half asleep" I say hazily.
"Oh,sorry." Adam apologized
"I was just calling to see if you were awake"
"Why? You never call me this early." I say while trying to get that ringing sound out of my ear of Adam screaming.
"I have some great news." Adam says
"If the great news is about this is our last year of high school, I'm not interested." I tell him.
"So you know Brad the guy you like." Adam asks
"Yes Adam I know him, but he is already taken..."
"We'll let me stop you right there. He broke up with his girlfriend last week, I just now heard about it."
"OMG seriously. Adam,but you know he doesn't like me."
"Niomi, he has liked you ever since the first year here, he hasn't had a chance to break up with his girlfriend, until now."
"Well Adam, I have to go. Meet me by the tree."
"Okay bye Niomi"
Once I get to the tree I don't see Adam, I see Brad. My heart starts beating fast, and I keep walking. I walk right past the tree and someone touches my shoulder.
"Hey Niomi." Brad says
I turn around and say " heyyyy Brad"
"So Niomi, how is it going."
"Well it's better than most mornings"
"Why might I ask"
I start staring into his eyes and I get sidetracked.
"Ummm hello." Brad asks.
"Oh sorry,it was just a good morning, that's all"
"I was going to ask you. Are you free after school today."
"Well It depends what you are asking me?" I ask.
"Well I wanted you to go on a walk in the woods with me."
"Okay.....sure."
"Just meet me in the woods after school."
"Okay.....well bye"
And this is the day I didn't know my life will change forever.
