Hot Lands (True Lab)Due to the absence of functional applied sciences the once ovenlike temperature in the room that the monitors were expelling faded and left the room feeling hallow as a chilly draft swept through the room, which consequently gave Alphys cold feet both mentally and physically.
She shuddered at the sudden loss of familiar heat that once caressed the room. The greeting on the flickering static screen taunted her sending chills down her spine.
Then the air felt weighted with an uninvited presence as she felt the conscious world around her disappear.
Alphys started feel someone breathing down her neck, and was paralyzed with raw fear.
Then something benumbing whisked against her cheek inquiringly, making her go pale.
She quickly jerked her head around and the sense of dread dissipated when Alphys was faced with nothing.
Surely it must have been an active imagination, she thought and turned back to the screen. That is what getting so little hours of sleep will do to you, but what ever it was it was gone now, so it doesn't matter.
Alphys eased up dismissing it as her mind playing tricks.
What ever laid behind that screen wanted to reach her, it was trying to communicate... "What does it w-ant?" She whispered to the screen.
"What is it!?" Flowey snapped growing childishly impatient from underneath the desk.
"I-it can speak!" Alphys was stupefied and Flowey mumbled something rude under his breath before making verbal contact with the scientist again.
"It can speak!" He mimicked
with an pouting expression on his face. She hushed Flowey crisply, making no eye contact with him, but recognized the flower's impolite tone.
"Fl-Flowey this is ser-serious, it sh-shouldn't be able to d-do th-that..." She dipped her head, which cause the word on the computer to mirror in her glasses as she carefully brushed bits of glass off of her notes on the desk.
The soulless flower narrowed his eyes, watching her every move, "Nothing you wrote down will help." He said tightly, but Alphys blocked out Flowey's negativity.
Was the energy the once physical components of something once living, maybe an even another monster? Her mind was so confounded that anything seemed possible at this point. This goes against everything she has ever been experienced with.
This should be scientifically impossible, but the idea flooded her mind and swelled it. The excitement of this new discovery ran through her veins, and the potential knowledge that she could learn, it could possibly save Underground, and not let every one she cares about down. Then reality hit her.
Alphys had absolutely not a clue on who this person- thing could be, or if it would be willing to help her.
The scientist in her need to know more, it was scientific curiosity after all, and science comes with devotion to dive into the depths of the inky unbeknownst sea of discovery, but not knowing what exactly it was disturbed her immensely.
