I look briefly at Ben and try to fix his vest that was wrinkled now, he's wearing a nice light blue shirt, a off grey vest with matching dress pants, some orange red tie up shoes,and a burgundy red tie with white polka dots. He looked amazing needless to say. Me? Well I was skinny enough to fit in a nice 2 piece dress, with a halter top that was decorated with rhinestones, it was a royal blue all around and the skirt was short and was made out of tulle, the waist was the same as the top it was beaded with pearl like beads and rhinestones were weaved in. I wore royal blue pumps with a thick strap the same color, they were made out of suede and it made me think of Elvis Presley and his song "Don't step on my blue suede shoes".
My make up was simple and to the point and I wore my infinity ring my little sister gave to me when I was about to leave and I wore my teddy bear necklace that my parents gave to me for my 13 birthday. Its been a couple days since I've seen my parents and I already missed them.
I walked up and greeted the other people introducing myself and Ben, too many people asked how old he is and what his name was. He replied quickly with a respectful tone " Benjamin but you can call me Ben like Brooke does." They always aww at that part because every time he flashes a smile at them and smiles sweetly at me.
Mr. Darwin introduced me to several people, their names swirling in my head as I tried to remember all of them. I look around and only then do I realize that there were easily 600 people here. I freaked out and fixed my dress that had nothing wrong with it, but it made me feel better about myself. I then remembered that I now have a little brother and he's missing. " Ben? Ben? Benjamin? " I call out repeatedly. Just then Mr. Darwin walks up to me and notices my stress lines and my wringing hands as I search for Benjamin in the crowd.
" Don't worry Ms. Saison he's in the children's room he looked like he needed to be with kids his own age." He said the last part in a whisper as if it was a secret I had to keep secret. I widened my eyes and excused myself, clutching my clutch ( the work play in this is awesome) I ran to the so called children's room as fast as my heels would allow me. When I got there I was relived to see Ben there chasing around anther boy. I heard a few "No Chelsea you cannot eat the foam mat!" and " Stop running, walk!" I felt bad for the girl who was in charge of this whole thing she looked my age maybe a little younger. He hair flowed over her shoulders it was straight and a beautiful chocolate brown. She was dressed semi-casual. I went over and pulled a foam block out of a toddlers mouth and reached out and grabbed up a few kid and asking them to walk.
" Oh my gosh I thought I was going to die from stress, at least I get paid for this." She plops down on a kids chair and scolds another kid. " I'm Aster, Aster Reed, and you?" She looks at me momentarily then gasps my hand flies to my face wondering if I had something on it and I looked so stupid. " OMG you are Brooklyn Saison, the girl on the news and shut all those news people up and you're also the guest of honor there." she looks at me, straight in the eyes and its then when I notice her eyes are a Paris Brun color and very brown.
" Yes my name is Brooklyn Saison, my brother is in here causing a ruckus, I picked up a kid that was grabbing at my skirt, she wasn't more than 11 months old. I rocked her as she played her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes.I turn my head briefly as I search for my brother " His name is Benjamin he's the boy in the grey vest and light blue shirt, who; Hey Benjamin Saison you better stop that right now mister, is right there." I smile at her but she again has her mouth wide open.
"You're a natural! She just fell asleep, her parents haven't been able to put Gretchen to bed, she just wouldn't sleep, and you just pick her up and she falls right asleep!" Aster exclaims struck by the sleeping baby in my arms. "How do you do it?" she asks greedily.
" Well I just picked her up thats all." I say smiling and putting her down on a small bed tucked away in the corner.
As I picked up a toddler I gave them something to gnaw on, a little girl about 4 years old came up to me and said " Hi my name is Dai,(Sounds like 'Day') see it says it on my name tag!" She said pointing to her name tag on her shirt. "Anyway I think you are very pretty." she smiles and bats her eyes cutely.
" You are very cute too. Now go back and play with your friends." I say while smiling and ushering her forward so she knows to go and play. I quickly look at the little toddlers name tag that I was holding 'Jensen' it read. Hmm, interesting. "Well Jensen you and I are going to be buddies for a bit." I said smiling and the cute little boy smiled back right before babbling baby talk.
I stayed in the children's room for a few hours helping Aster and talking, I asked for her phone number so maybe we could talk over some coffee or something after she gets done with school. Suddenly I hear my name and then the following words "will be giving a speech so Brooklyn will you please come up to the stage?" I grab Ben and bid a quick goodbye to Aster. I came up on the stage and left instructions to Ben to go and sit down.
" Hello as many of you know already, I am Brooklyn Saison, I am in LA because Capitol Records have be very generous to give me a chance to make music. Although I am only 16 year old I am not backing down and losing it. These first few days have been rough but I can't just give up now. Alike many of you I have dreams and aspirations. Though mine might be different from yours they are still dreams and aspirations. I'm not going to sit her and bore you with all my boring dreams that seem exciting to you, but the thing on the top of my list is to make people happy and to help them. I see many faces that I have met, but honestly I can't remember all of your names. Today going to this party was a huge step to get out of my shell, Because I am an extreme introvert and not to be rude but I'd rather be sitting in my bed eating ice cream and watching my favorite show right now. We all have our discomforts but they are a part of life and you have to get out of your shell to have something happen to you and in your life. Although this wasn't much a speech and more like a pep talk I'd like to thank Mr. Darwin for everything he has done for me." As I step down form the podium I am over come by cheers and clapping. I step down from the stage and smile as wide as my face would allow me, and I'm pretty sure the corners of my mouth cont reach my ears without surgery.
I ended the day with a nice shower and some Netflix on my phone since we have a router hooked up and we have some WiFi.
