"Jungkook-ah! I'm sorry," Taehyung murmured, his voice barely above a whisper, laden with the weight of his guilt.
Jungkook's eyes, wide and filled with unshed tears, locked onto Taehyung's. "D-Do you love me now, Taehyung?" His voice trembled, a single tear slipping down his cheek.
Taehyung's heart twisted painfully in his chest as he looked away. "I... don't know. I'm sorry, Jungkook. I need to go." The words felt hollow, even to him, as he turned his back on Jungkook, trying to escape the storm of emotions swirling inside him. But before he could take another step, Jungkook's hand shot out, gripping his wrist. He pulled Taehyung into a kiss, desperate, longing, and full of the emotions Taehyung had tried so hard to bury.
The kiss lingered longer than Taehyung anticipated, and to his surprise, a fluttering sensation erupted in his stomach, like butterflies set free after years of captivity. But it was too much. Too intense. Taehyung pulled away, breathless and confused, needing space to clear his head.
"Jungkook... I..."
As Taehyung stepped into the mansion, the weight of the evening pressed down on him like a suffocating blanket. He barely registered Namjoon's voice as his hyung called out, "So, Taehyung! How was your date with him? Did it work out well?"
"I'm tired, hyung. I'll tell you later or maybe tomorrow," Taehyung replied wearily, climbing the stairs with heavy steps. The desire to escape into the solitude of his room was overwhelming.
Jin's voice halted him midway. "Taehyung!" Jin called. Taehyung turned back, raising a questioning brow. "We need to talk later. I don't want things left unresolved until tomorrow."
Taehyung nodded, the words barely registering as he continued his ascent, his mind replaying every moment from earlier with Jungkook. Jungkook's pleading eyes, his trembling voice, the way he clung to Taehyung as if he was his lifeline...
"Jungkook, I... really need to go. I'm sorry. My hyungs are waiting for me."
Jungkook's grip tightened, his voice low and serious. "No, Tae. This time, you're mine."
Taehyung shook his head, the conflict tearing him apart. "Jungkook, I don't know what your intentions are, but I don't want to hurt you. I can't bear to see you cry because of someone as undeserving as me. You deserve better, Jungkook."
"Please, Taehyung! Just let me love you! You don't know how many nights I've cried because of you." Jungkook's voice broke as he sobbed, and Taehyung felt his resolve waver.
"That's exactly why, Jungkook. Your tears... they're wasted on someone like me. You should find someone who truly deserves your love. I never expected things to turn out this way." Taehyung's voice cracked as he cupped Jungkook's face, feeling the warmth of his skin beneath his trembling fingers. Jungkook's puffy eyes bore into Taehyung's, searching for something, anything to hold onto, as more tears threatened to spill.
"I won't stop loving you," Jungkook whispered, his voice filled with quiet determination. "Just let me love you, Tae, and maybe, just maybe, you'll love me back." He pulled Taehyung into a tight embrace, but Taehyung stood there, frozen, unable to reciprocate the way he knew Jungkook needed. After what felt like an eternity, Taehyung gently pushed him away, the ache in his chest nearly unbearable as he turned and ran to his car, driving home with tears blurring his vision.
A soft knock on the door pulled Taehyung from his thoughts, snapping him back to the present. He sighed heavily, already feeling the exhaustion settling into his bones. "Come in," he muttered, trying to sound more composed than he felt.
Jin stepped inside, his usual warmth replaced by a serious expression that made Taehyung's heart sink. "Seriously, Taehyung? Keep your voice down. I'm older than you, and you should know better."
