I twisted my hair into a ponytail, tucking it under my cap and lowering the brim. Then I took a final look around the room full of strangers, wondering which of them would help me escape, and which would try to kill me.
All of a sudden the lights went out and the room was submersed in darkness. Now I don’t know if it’s just me, but being in a dark room filled with people who are hellbent on killing you isn’t exactly a confidence-builder. I heard the sound of people cursing obscenities as they were stumbling over each other. Out of nowhere a strong hand clamped down on my arm and I was roughly jerked in the direction of my abductor.
I opened my mouth to let out a cry for help but then thought better of it.
We were quickly making our way through the crowd even though every now and then my savior…or possibly my killer had to stop and right me on my feet as I was being shoved out of the way by people that were maneuvering blind through the room.
Normally I would have put up much more resistance in the event of being grabbed by some psycho, but oddly enough there was something about this stranger that I felt I could trust.
What made me feel this way? I had no freakin’ clue, but honestly what else was I going to do when I couldn’t even see two feet in front of me?
Next thing I know we were out of the overcrowded room and running down a long dim corridor. As I made my best efforts to keep up with this stranger I also tried to make out his features.
I mean when you’ve been grabbed by some random freak in the middle of a pitch-black room filled with killers, and that freak starts to drag you to only god knows where, believe it or not: You start to wonder about who it could be!
To my dismay I couldn’t see much in this crappy light, but from what I could tell the stranger was a well-built guy and was about 6’2”. His toned body was clad in black jeans and a hoodie. Unfortunately the hood of his jacket was pulled over his head disabling me from learning more about him, which only added on to the sexy mysterious thing he had going on.
Wait, what?!
Sexy mysterious thing?
I mentally kicked myself. This guy could be trying to kill me or worse and I was thinking about how sexy I thought his mysteriousness was? Obviously I’m either having a mental breakdown or it’s time for me to start sorting my priorities.
We reached the end of the corridor and then made a sharp left down another long hallway. I tilted my head trying to catch a glimpse of what lay ahead of us as my curiosity about this guy and where he was taking me rapidly began to increase.
At the end of the hall there were two large metal doors with a brightly lit red exit sign hanging above them.
We pushed through the doors and mystery guy dragged me out into the frigid night air and pulled me through the parking lot. We weaved our way through almost half the cars in the lot before finally stopping in front of a very sleek black car. He opened the passenger door for me and even though his face was in shadows, I could tell that he was staring at me expectantly as if I should just be thrilled to jump into some strangers’ car. I stared at him for a moment, debating silently with myself whether or not I should get into the car.
