It was finally the talent show, two days before the last day of school. Lexi and I decided to sing "Fearless" by Taylor Swift. We had been practicing for months and this was the day we would finally perform. I got out of my car with my black and white striped dress on and curled hair. I met up with Lexi in the front of the school, we both dressed the same. "Oh I'm nervous." I said to her. "Me too." She said. We both kind of did that nervous shiver you get before doing something. We walked into the school proud and tall. We went into the bathroom with Lexi's makeup. We put on some mascara and a light colored lipstick. It was a kind of pinkish red color. Then we went to class. I figured I would have a little fun so I took out a dry and clen mascara brush and brushed my eyebrows as I walked into class. "Girls I know you're happy but don't distract the class please while they're working." Mrs.Johnston added to the awkward silence."Ok." I answered quietly. Soon woud be the talent show and we were nervous, but we knew that we would have to have courage and be.. Fearless. We sat down and watched the other acts while we waited untill we had to go up. Then, Lexi saw her mom walk into the gym and took a seat not too far from us. "Oh no why is she here?" Lexi asked me angrily. She didn't have a good relationship with her so it made her nervous but also mad when she saw her here. Then Dyanna, Lexi's step mom came up to us and Lexi began to cry. "I don't want her here get her out, I won't sing if she's here!" Lexi whispered to her. "I'm sorry Lex but I can't just tell your mom to go what am I supposed to say? Lexi doesn't want to sing if you're here?" Dyanna answered a little annoyed. I sat in silence watching them bicker back and forth. That's when Dyanna said "Exuse us real quick Molly we'll be right back." I was silent than almost cried, I didn't want to sing alone. About 2 minutes later Dyanna and Lexi came back and Lexi sat down next to me in silence."You ok?" I asked her. "Yeah."Lexi said. We began to drink some water because we were so nerous. "Just remember this is the first time we're performing in a talent show, don't let your mom get to you Lex, I'll be with you the whole time, just look at other people in the crowd or the wall." I said trying to cheer her up a little. As soon as we knew it our turn was in a few seconds, we got even more nervous. We walked onto the stage behind the curtains waiting while a young boy sang "Hero" by Family of the year. My butterflies were kicking in as he finished. Everyone clapped and the speakers announced Lexi and I and what we were singing. The curtains drew and we began to sing. "There's something bout' the way the street looks when its just rained there's s glow off the pavement you walk me to the car." The words flew out of my mouth and suddenly the butterflies went away. Lexi looked nervous still but I knew she was feeling just as I was. "And you know I wanna ask you to dance right there in the middle of the parking lot...yeah." "And I don't know how it gets better than this you take my hand and drag me head first fearless." When we finished singing about 2 minutes later we walked off stage and got lots of claps and smiles. I finally felt fearless.
